Are we going to see another caster legendary weapon that isn't a mace?
- Metzen: What do you want? What would make you happy?
- A big stick.
- Metzen: A Staff, it's coming!

So who is getting one in Cata then? It will probly work like previous ones, meaning 1 will get it @ a time.
Think I will go for one with my Mage or SP in our Alt run.

Blah.... gief Legendary tanking shield

tanking shield, dont see that happening soon as only 2 of the classes uses shields, unless they make tank legend for them all, so shield, staff and 2h wep

And lets not even go into detail about our awsome new signature shot !!! ARCANE SHOT !!!

Definately hunter loot...

they see me rolling rolling... they be hating .. :)

Lol blizz really F****D this one up :p. Spoke to a mate of mine and he says it's not worth bothering with WoW anymore, it's such a broken abomination.

@ Oculate: they already said they will not really consider a tanking legendary ever.

If you ask me with the way the game is changing atm (more accessible to the masses) they should make it so all classes can eventually get a legendary (or something in that line) in an expansion, but it should still be pretty damn hard or a long road to get it. (we really don't want everyone to have one). Its a difficult one, making something awesome available but not to easily accessible to anyone except the really hardcore/dedicated - ie a little reward for those players.
They did say they are looking @ legendaries maybe scaling so that it lasts longer and do not get replaced by HC items.

@ dal2000 : Ye its broken quite a bit atm. But they have stated its hard when you do things aimed at level 85 to make it scale back and work properly @ 80 & a previous expansion. I'm not 2 bothered to much atm (thou I cant say I'm happy with most of my toons). I'll speak out about it when I get to 85 again.

Thing is, why should the hunter suck at 80? Yes there is going to be a level cap at 85 to be added, but that still doesn't justify breaking the class down to make it scale for more levels. Level 80 is level 80, what they have done is nerf level 80 for hunters to scale well at 85 which is utter B******T. Classes at level 70 still did well at level 70 when wotlk came out, and at 80 they did even better. That's how it should be. Hunters should be exactly as powerful as they were before the patch, not less powerful and not more. This whole new "Focus" crap is what has caused the problem quite obviously, but more specifically caused a problem with the skills. Seems like they never put enough thought into replacing the skill that were removed, oh but wait... you'll be able to use them at 85 :p.

I cant believe im gonna go with a hunter on this, but yes, an agility based staff would be awesome! seeing as pretty much all n sundry except tanks (apparently also will never) have had their legendary. however, we now how they like to treat toons that use agility 2handers :(

If I remember correct it has been

Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros - 2 Handed DPS mace - L60
Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker - 1 Handed DPS Sword - L60
Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian - Caster Staff (different depending on class) - L60
Warglaives of Azzinoth - MH & OH DPS swords - L70
Thori'dal, the Stars' Fury - DPS bow - L70
Val'anyr, Hammer of Ancient Kings - Healer Mace - L80
Shadowmourne - 2 Handed DPS Axe - L80

If I follow that then it was time for a DPS spell Staff. It also caters for more classes, which is much better than making a legendary mainly for 1 class...
I do however like the way that Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian worked. Made it work 'better' for a wider group of classes. Might not be a bad idea to expand on that.

and you note that none of those legendaries mentioned (which is a complete list imo) are agility based 2 hander's? and what was so "legendary" about shadowmourne? when 2 dozen people per server had it? anything LK25 HC dropped was more legendary as you actually rarely saw.

fyi, Im not a hunter, I play kittay.

Aw thats why I said above

"I do however like the way that Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian worked. Made it work 'better' for a wider group of classes. Might not be a bad idea to expand on that."

+ I also said in an earlier post that it should be harder to get, more rare (noobmourne any1?). Its a fine line thou.

On your Agility staff comment, well my Kitty would love one :)

Technically Thunderfury was a tank/dps weapon - it was the best threat weapon in the game (back when threat really mattered) and the debuff was very helpful in end game encounters.

Regardless I'd say for hunters - legendary bow > legendary staff and as somebody who has done a lot of feral dps/tanking - a legendary is kind of wasted on a class where you never really get to see it :(

With regards to legendary caster staff - it'd have to have very specific stats/procs on it to make it specific to caster dps though they might go that direction as they seem to use procs to flavour the weapons.
