I bought a Lenovo G550 for my mother in law today. Brought it home to set it up, boot it for the first time and it blue screens!

I had just finished putting in the registration info
Now every time I boot the machine it blue screens right after crcdisk.sys is loaded.
From everything that I have managed to find, it seems that the lenovo bios is incompatible with the bundled OS - Vista Home. :( CYFBI?

How do I update the bios? Maybe another way to fix it?
Should I bother, or should I just take it back to Esquire on Monday?

Not to be funny, but this is what the warranty is for. Would you want to patch the problem and have something similar happen in a few weeks or months again? Rather nip it in the bud early

You bought it and its got a problem..

Take the thing back and get it swapped out...

This is not a Lenovo Fail... its a fact of life with mass produced equipment, some of it will fail before being sold.

Okay, thanks for the advice. I 'm gonna take it back first thing tomorrow.

Hi there

it looks like an Out of Box Failure or Dead on Arrival as it is commonly known , which does happen, even with the best of breed products

please send me a PM with your details and I will make sure that someone collects it and have it swopped out for you

please make sure that you give all the packaging and all the manuals and drivers that came with the unit

I Just hope you did not have to sleep in the Dog House last night – if you did “” A Thousand Apologies !!!!””
Regards
