Hi all

I just wanted to let you know about the LEnovo P780 phone, which is pretty much the best phone in terms of battery life (hands down). It beats the Razr Maxx hands down too acording to all tests run so far:

Since it is not available on our sunny shores, I plan to import it. Amazon has it for about $260:

I can get it for a bit less though, directly from China, where it is made. ;) Is anybody else interests, as I can get a group discount in that case.
Just PM me if you want one as well and we can see what we can do. I'll see if I can twist the supplier's arm to post them to multiple addresses and we can all be sorted. I think I can get it for about $240 each if we order 5 items, but I am unsure of whether this is shipping to one address only. Note that this is excluding shipping which I would recommend DHL for.

The total cost should still be below 3k with DHL.

Another review for the phone (and it's insane battery life) is here:

And the gimmicky ability to charge other android phones:

What do you guys think? The performance isn't the best, but the lure of a phone that lasts more than half a day with a lot of use is tempting...

I got a PM about this phone. Placed my order and will let you guys know about the outcome of it all when I finally get it (in about a month or a bit more - slowest shipping).

P.S. Why am I getting 0 replies on this thread? Nobody interesting in having decent battery life on a smartphone?

Hi Guys

I've had the P780 for about 2 weeks now and this is what I can say:

Using both SIMS all the time and having internet on all day, this is my usage:
Minimum of 48 hours (I charge at 8pm each day even if there is still some power)with:
2-3 hours of calls per day during the week and about 1 hour per day during weekends (had a busy few weeks)
1-2 hours of gaming per day during the week and 3-6 hours over weekends (Flappy bird, Spiderman, Sonic Dash, Fighting Tiger)
Whatsapp all day
Downloads now and then (torrenting for about an hour a day)
Browsing for about an hour per day
GPS of about an hour per charge (so every 2 days, I use GPS for an hour)

So far, the phone is phenomonal. And it reaches my goal of a good battery life. Performance is pretty good too (quad core, 1GB RAM). No lag and it's pretty nippy for me.

The down sides:
2nd SIM only works on Cellc (900Mhz) - 2G only - EDIT: Tested to work on Telkom Mobile too (both SIM slots)
Only one SIM can work for voice at a time (the other effectively shuts down when I am on a call)
And that's about it... I was on CellC to begin with, so I have no issues with the first issue.

Let me know if you guys want info on getting this phone or anything about it, such as camera quality (decent), voice quality (good) or android features (love them all - all work including hotspot, etc)

:)

Where did you buy it ion the end and how much was it landed?

I got it directly from China. Got a hold of a supplier there that sold a genuine one.
It cost me R2700, including shipping and customs. Took a month, but with an extra R300, I could have gotten it DHL'd in a week.

I'm interested. Who can I contact to purchase one? Did the phone's settings come in Chinese or English?

I got mine online, through aliexpress here:

Great phones, but I will warn you: You need to hack it a bit in order to get it working perfectly with all networks...

Currently, it's under R2000, so go for it. Pretty cheap.

Calmo, I'm sending you a PM in a few minutes. Sorry for taking so long to reply.
