Lenovo T61 : Problem with speaker making static noise

Depending on how tech savvy you are, you could try booting it with an Ubuntu liveCD to see if the soundcard works in Linux, to see if it's a Windows fault or a hardware one.

But if you're taking it in to be sorted, please let us know how your service with Lenovo is. I am probably never going to buy another brand of laptop again, I love Thinkpads, would love to hear how Lenovo/IBM treat you.

Got my laptop back today... Apparently the main board went, so they replaced it. I now have sound again. The ibm service centre in Jetpark, Boksburg are ok you just need to stay on their case otherwise they are a little slow.
