Lenovo Y560p thoughts

Hey, just wanna poll the general brains-trust around here.

Looking to get a new laptop, and would like it to be a bit of a beast, since it's gotta handle the usual day-to-day work, plus image and video editting.

Call me a snob, but I've had too many crap laptops in my lifetime, and for that reason you'll have to do a really good job to convince me to get anything other than a Dell or a Lenovo.

Best option I've come across thus far is the Lenovo Y560p. The specs are:
i7 2630QM
8Gb DDR3 RAM
750Gb HDD
1Gb ATI Radeon HD 6570M
15.6" HD LED Glare Screen (Whatever "Glare" means?)

Pros:
Lots of RAM, lots of HDD, lots of CPU
It's a Lenovo, so theoretically has decent build quality

Downsides I've read about so far:
No backlit keys (nice to have)
No USB3 ports (future proof)
No BlueRay (future proof)
No 3G (nice to have)
Somewhat poor battery life

I can get it for R8700.

Thoughts? Alternatives?

Go for it. I've got a Y560, quite a nice little machine..
The speakers are INTENSE, you can hear it from across the house on full blast.

Make sure you have a a warranty though, the left hinge has a design problem so quite a few models break after a bit of usage, mine included, but with a fix it with the warranty, the problem goes away. Obviously not all of them will break, its just a lot of people had this problem with the Y560 models.

I could just as easily say "It doesn't make me coffee, so pass"

(Seriously, though, I can't see a thinkpad with those specs anywhere near that price range)

I only use Thinkpads. Build quality is excellent. It's going to cost more but you get what you pay for. I could go on and on why I like them, but just try one out and you'll know why.

I'm starting to think I'd get more input here if I asked "would this laptop be better with a plasma screen?"

Just to conclude, ended up getting this beast at PC Zone for R8000. I really don't know how they do it, considering Pinnacle are selling it for R9500!

Good build quality, faster and more powerful than my desktop, loving it!
