Yes you could hear the idiots egging on the driver to run it over. The leopard didn't look okay though. Don't rangers carry dart guns for cases like this?

No, they carry real guns. Dart guns get brought out when there is more of a search, like for that lion that escaped the Karoo National Park. And that guy in the safari vehicle aint no National Parks ranger and there was no ranger during the incident.

There is a huge difference between a jeep jockey and a ranger.
I don't think all jeep jockeys/ field guides have weapon licenses. You will have to check if the guide was a KNP employee or one of the private tour operators that comes in from out side the park.

I'm 100 % with you on not having to drive over it repeatedly. The guy in the open safari vehicle should have driven to get out of there,

Reports from park officials and eye witnesses stated that the guide was trying to herd the leopard for the benefit of his quests, for a clearer view. - See more at: http://africageographic.com/blog/vi...-vehicles-during-attack/#sthash.LheRzthr.dpuf

That I know. And as I said in my initial post in this thread, he is a noob and to expand on that, he probably deserves a gnawed arm so he won't try such things again.

The statement you quoted was in response to R13...s statement about the silver van that then subsequently drove over the leopard. It was still a clear and present danger to the open safari vehicle and thus the guests, the guides wellbeing would have been of less worry to me, I would also have used the vehicle at a weapon.

I agree with my good mate SSB, all these private guided tours should be banned from the KNP, my honest opinion. From extensive experience these external guided tour operators, they race between sightings and block the view for most of the other park visitors.

He must have somehow known, because first the tries it on the first vehicle he gets to but doesn't hit the target, then he succeeds with the Land Rover.

They drove over the leopard twice. After the 1st time (on video) the leopard then tried to retaliate by jumping on the car.

All this could have been avoided if they hadn't interfered and followed common sense safety precautions. Failure to do that cost an animal its life.

Kid with his head out the sunroof.

Guy with window open.

Was that a gunshot?

*people not learning - SMH*

^^This... if he had left it alone in the first place it would still be alive.
