Sheesh, I can't believe that even the right wing conservatives on this forum (of which there are plenty) would stoop to defending PW Botha. It's quite sad, actually.

I doubt if there is genuine support in their hearts. It is more tit-for-tat-how-dare-you-support-BEE-or-ANC-so-we-will-support-apartheid stuff. But, lot of them do recognize difference between intention of a policy & implementation of a policy. (or just my wishful thinking?)

But then again remember all the support Mugabe is getting from "elite" few in this country.

Botha did more for black people than the ANC ever did in all their years in power.

Botha said the way apartheid should of ended was in a confederacy where each ethnic group governs their own people, too bad De Klerk stabbed the people in the back and subjugated whites, coloureds and Asians to black rule. Wasn't the whole point of ending apartheid to end another ethnic groups dominance over another?
