Johannesburg - President Jacob Zuma has urged the Commonwealth to re-admit Zimbabwe to the group.

He was speaking at the Commonwealth heads of government summit in Trinidad and Tobago.

"Zimbabwe's re-admission into the Commonwealth will serve as recognition to the progress that has been achieved thus far," Zuma's spokesperson, Vincent Magwenya, said in a statement on Sunday.

"Equally, along with the lifting of sanctions, it will represent the international community's support and encouragement to parties to continue the dialogue that will deliver a lasting solution to the challenges facing the country," Magwenya said.

tbh Ian smith should have handed Rhodesia over to SA during its independence, it would have saved Southern Africa lots of issues.

I got a better idea, reinstate Robert Mugabe with his Knight status which the queen so rudely took away from him a few years ago, Kick the UK/Aus/NZ out of the commonwealth and then just include who you wish. And make Knight Mugabe the sole leader of the Commonwealth of Nations.

Bottomline commonwealth is nothing and Uncle Bob knows it . Its just a way of protecting the small number of english whites in Africa of which it only makes them more hated like Mr Terrblank and his crew alluded to in their last meeting .
Uncle Bob is bad news for Anc and SA because he is an educated road warrior , who is only happy when he fights someone irregardless of colour . The bad news is that he is very clever and will hide behind ANC or his chinese freinds whilst he aqcuires parts of SA . Already they are some famous hotels and vast properties that black mafioso has major shares whilst our brothers toyi-toyi in the streets like idiots .
 
That is the most retarded thing I have ever seen on these forums and I've lurked here for many years. Lesedix, Robert Mugabe is not bad news because he is educated, on the contrary, it is his complete lack in leadership and corruption that is bad for Africa.

The commonwealth has nothing to do with protecting whites in africa, if it did, they would have whisked them out of the country in the first spate of farm seizures so, with that, theory 1 is blown out of the water,

You next called him a coconut. The man has made life for white people in Zimbabwe a living hell, so how on earth you came to that conclusion is just beyond rational thought. He may have been educated in western philosophy but that doesn't mean he isn't black! Your post smacks of blatant racism and the fact you go as far as calling another forumite "boy" shows how common a person you really are.

There was an attempt in the forming of Union to include Southern Rhodesia into SA.
IF we had gone for a FEDERAL system there was slight possibility that this could have happened.

However even in those days the Rhodesians were not up for the nascent Apartheid that was forming.

The Nationalists had NEVER forgiven the Rhodesian forces for marching with Dr Leander Starr Jameson.
They were also not keen to have a further bunch of verdomde engelse to increase and change the demographics.

All in all I do not think that it would have changed much -- the project was for the end of Whitey in Africa -- however that was brought about.

Well the Zim government says it wants nothing to do with the commonwealth and that it's not up to anybody to invite them back since they withdrew voluntarily.

sadly the nats could never get over this anger for the British, it lead them to make rational and stupid decisions, dropping Rhodesia also meant the beginning of the end for white power in SA .

one big sigh on both sides...20-30 years later and welcome to the new Southern Africa.
