Lets all welcome our comrade!

Is he finally comming, I met his foreign Minister, when he visited ( I think it was around 2002 ) and he promised that Putin would visit, I hope he travels up north to Tshwane, I would love to meet him.

Economic, social and political relations with Russia can only be good for South Africa

Plus we can score some good Vodka from them ( not the crap we get here ) Woza Putin Woza :D

Yeah - ask the hundreds of thousands of Russians who can't afford to eat, but will pay a month's wages to get a bottle. Yay - lets see what they can offer us. Not to mention all the `school kids' on `school outings' who seem to be disappearing in aircraft accidents. Why is it always schoolkids on holday that die in these accidents?

We will always remember Russia's military and political support to us during the dark days. Welcome Vlad.

Dunno how you are going to "remember" this as you weren't even born at that time.

My brain is still filled with thoughts of the old regime's "Rooi Gevaar".:(

Perhaps Mr Putin will will help alter my perception of a Communist State?

History has shown communism simply doesn't work.

LOL - that was the USSR! You know - that place other side of the BERLIN WALL - the wall that THE PEOPLE brought down!

Word has it you were not even around then.....
Word from who? And what's the relevance of that? If you can't debate an issue without getting personal why don't you just stay away from the thread?

It is extremely relevant, as for one you are quoting personal experience you don't even have.

Be interesting to see what comes of this. Ultimately most of us owe something to Russia for their sacrifice at Stalingrad.

The visit by the Putin is nothing more than a courtesy call, we already have very strong relations with Russia, as evidenced by the fact that some of our old Mirage Fighters are being or have been fitted with MIG engines, and numerous other bi-lateral agreements

well seeing as we're patting the old ruskies on the shoulder how about acknowledging all the rest of the heroes and veterans of 2 world wars - many living in this country - and now trodden with the rest

:D :o :( :p
