Okay, so... I had this idea today.

I split my traffic, I have a Linux box and my 'boss' has setup my Linux box to split international and local traffic.

Anyways!

Since, during the day, MWEB gives us really horrible speeds (we talking 30/40KB/s)

Anyways, today I get a bit sly and I think of something...

I go into Grabit and I take 'half' my downloads and set them to download via SAIX (2 connection limit really sucks FYI) and set the other half to go via MWEB.

IMMEDIATELY things changed.

My line has been doing 300KB all day ± (it goes up and down but basically, that's the speed) with the SAIX doing 250KB± and MWEB giving me their selfish 50KB±

Anyways... just a thought I'd share with you guys.

PS: Having this setup is perfect because if MWEB is down, I can still RDC into my PC ;) FYI: The 1 PPP connection is my MWEB account and the other PPP connection is a Telkom account.

Or you could just let them run at night. Works for my 9-10 gb's every so often. I feel no need to get sly with a company giving me 150+gb's for 539. If i downloaded 10gb every night i could do 300gb a month . So are you planning on pulling more than this or what?

What is your usage every month? Don't care if it 1 tb just wondering why people are so fixated on downloading during the day.

O wait are you using international news servers or local ones? I use usenet for my bandwidth.

Thats pretty friggin awesome :) Obviously the shape comes from the news server side, not the per-user side? Maybe?

MWEB does horrible shaping, it's MWEB side, my boss has setup NO shaping/throttling of any sort on my Linux box.

Yes, at night, MWEB opens up but it's random (times) but at least for this, it's either or or "win win" = during the day I get good speeds, at night I get good speeds. :D

Yes but are you planning on doing more than like 250gb or what? To me is it not a win to download my 170gb a month all day and night, doing it at night does the job.

I suppose though if you are looking for 500+gb's then this way would work well. I don't know when they open it up but from about 7 the nzb's go at 100kb/s my side and in 10-11 hours i can do 9-10 gb which is perfect for me. My penis is bloody red and worn out with all that 1080p porn to keep up with :D.

I cannot even find 10gb worth of stuff i would view a day, now if i wanted to push 20gb a day i would have no friggen idea and just download cause i can.

You downloading loads of hd movies?

I have no intention of doing 500GB, just a thought I had that I wanted to share - I believe that sharing is caring.

If you've already downloaded all of the interwebz, why bother? :p

Just kidding... great idea, now all I need is a MWeb account! :D

Geez, I find a sneaky way and everything assumes I'm the biggest P1rat3 on MyBB.

Thanks guys... really! Last time I share anything with you.

O i check, yea sounds like a cool idea.

Waits for mweb to read and implement measures :D.

/hands gdi a bullet proof car, you got some peeps coming for you after this post. Arm yourself!!!!! These okes get pissed when tricks like this are made public :p

WTF don't you have mweb moggie you nooblet :D. Go sign up now buddy. True uncapped :D. If you say uncapped can you shape certain protocols or do you have to let the line run full speed 24/7?

Overseas do they shape pirate networks during works hours as well?

T3G ftw !!! Puts them all to shame!

This is a really smart move and totally legit. After all he is paying for both the Telkom bandwith and the Mweb stuff. I used to have a similar setup running with the old Axxess SAIX prepaid and a Webafrica 30gb IS account.

Ignore the trolls. Thanks for the post.

Download away. I pulled 270GB last month through my uncapped Mweb account.

Gdiza. Whilst this is nice if you cannot handle your line idling during the day, it really defeats the point of having uncapped, but in essence all you are doing is routing traffic through the other account to get the other remaining capacity left on your line. Like i said to you on facebook, which you redirected to me on this thread. I do not need my line maxing all day every day. I have done 300gb this month. My post which you replied to was merely to point out it was 23:00 on a Saturday evening, i was trying to update my sample banks, and i couldnt even get 50KB/s+ throughput, thou at 4am i saw it going full speed.

How exactly did you set the one to go via MWEB and the other via SAIX. Destination IP or something?

As I said, I have a Linux box which splits traffic, sorta like Route Sentry, but a more advanced version - obviously, those who know Linux will know that you can take X traffic and push it over PPP0 (internet connection 1) and Y traffic and push it over PPP1 (internet connection 2)

So my Astraweb traffic obviously goes via PPP0 (MWEB) and any other traffic (especially local) goes via PPP1 (internet connection 2 which is the SAIX account)

In Grabit for example, I setup 2 'groups' and I take half and set it go via MWEB and then the 2nd group to go via SAIX.
