Lets buy a bike?

And I wouldn't recommend anything less to most people.

A KTM 390 is the minimum I would recommend for an adult.

Too little power is as dangerous as too much power.

That being said it's lesser applicable to you as you won't do highways on the daily...but it's also unlikely you'll never ever do highways.

You want something that can easily maintain 120 AND also has pulling power if you open it up to overtake at that speed. Bikes below the 390-class don't really offer that.

But of course it's more money.

Tricky balance between safety and price.

Pay much less and have much higher risk of failure and possible complete loss. Or pay more and have lower risk of failure and less chance of complete loss so more money saved overall.

I understand that. The thing is a small guy on a small bike is usually the worst case scenario. But the 250 is not that small. The KTM390 is just way out of the price range. I buy one cash but then I dive deep into the savings for the baby. I'f I could I would buy the 390 duke. Looks amazing. But thus far the best option and value for money seems to be the CBX250.

You must remember I realize the massive risk but the risk that my wife cannot pick up or take the baby to the clinic because she has no car is probably bigger? I mean will they wait 30min for me while I drive from Stellenbosch. That is if its not peak traffic time. That is ultimately my main concern. Except if I find a place day care in Stellenbosch and the baby drive with me daily but some evenings I work later and the risks of driving every day is worse and Stellenbsoch is like Paarl - probably overpriced and expensive cause of all the rich people living there (no offense , only reality)

I actually went with the Honda NC700x as my first bike, mostly due to the awesome storage compartment that's built into the bike.

I've had it for a few years now and it's nearing 100 000km on the clock with no major issues.

I would highly recommend the bike if you able to save a bit more.

Shh..lol. I've been looking at them for a while but that's just to much money. If I could find a dealer that sells a 2012 secondhand one for maybe R45k and I can get a decent installment then I may consider. But only if the Nc700 with the installments will be really better compared to the CBX250. The thing with the CBX250 is you get a complete repair manual and I can see myself working on the CBX but the NC700 looks so clean and decent that it feels like a bike you don't want to get dirty :). Though from what I read the NC700 is low maintenance and easy to maintain yourself

So got a very good deal a few weeks ago so had to jump on it else I would probably never got another one. 2011 CBX 250.
-FSH at Honda,
-1 owner that only commuted
-never dropped the bike,
-parked in garage every night
-R18k
-31k km

EDIT:Oh yeah the owner commuted only but just retired last month hence why was selling it now

Insurance cost R71 extra for the bike a month.
