Ok, have asked this before; but now reading the thread about SA citizens being taken for a ride with crypto-currency; why do we not find out if anyone here has actually made real money from this stuff.

So, I propose a poll.

As in, what has been your net gain.

I don't know how to set up a poll, but I would be interested in this.

They were taken for a ride with crypto scams, not crypto in general. Assuming you're reading the thread about people getting scammed.

Indeed. So, this is a chance to show that these scams are wrong?

To be frank, every time I have asked if people have cashed out and made a profit, it has been ignored.

So, all I am looking for is an anonymous poll that shows who have made what net gains.

Net gains being less set up costs and cashed out.

Maybe another poll for what net gains are still in wallets?

I doubt you're going to get people declaring their investments in a public forum.

You're conflating two things.

What people earn trading crypto has nothing to do with crypto scams.
Crypto scams are usually things like pyramid schemes and 'investors' promising big returns, most people on mybb are trading themselves.

Your poll is fine, but it's got nothing to do with people being scammed.

You've lost the plot man. I've been trading for a short period of time and made small amounts. The largest profit I cashed out about a month ago was 8k. Then again I only traded with 45k.

Splinter, if you're skeptic about the reality of crypto currencies, I can't help you

Ok, but you took one line out of my post, and disregarded everything else. Which is sort of the point. Ignoring scams, what is happening to the rest?

Edit: Please tell sucked/eks what being on ignore means :)

Hence why I asked for an anonymous poll.
Maybe set one up on google docs / some free online poll site.

You'd probably need to distinguish between:

a.) people actively trading with an interest in the market / tech etc. and
b.) people who bought at all-time high because of hype without paying any attention to the markets / price etc.

No.

This is about who made money or who did not. Net.

I think for the majority it isnt much, but it is something (if converted to cash). Those who got in early in the game do/did well?
I might be wrong, but the idea with crypto is not to compare it to trading with real cash, but to hope and rely on services that will accept crypto as a currency?

Perhaps. The point is, all this talk about upswings and downswings and whatever, might entice others to invest. Which is what this market needs. So, sort of looking out for others who look at these Crypto threads and think there might be an easy buck to be made.

It seems that no-one here has made any real money.

The majority of money being made on crypto right now is via trading / speculating on exchanges where people attempt to buy and sell for a profit, very much like stocks or forex. The eventual utility or goal is a somewhat separate thing to people trading it for profit.

Say what?

Say what?
I changed what I said slightly. But still...a market exists where trading is possible. I don't need to give a **** about Amazon or the Euro to trade them on an exchange, just like I don't need to give a **** about Bitcoin to trade it.

Ok. So how does this affect my request for a poll?
