Let's play UT 2004 / UT3

Had some heavy weather on my side, I was offline since 18:30. I don't know if I should host, nobody else mentioned anything so I take it we skip tonight. We really need some place to talk like an IRC channel of some sort, would really help :)

same here stopped about 1 hour back.

+1 StoneCold
+1 IRC Server (+o ;-) )
+1 to UT, those were the days.
+1 Pr⊕phet, am gonna order it from TakeALOT.

Glad i found this thread.

Am keen to join.

Good news guys, that UT2004 server is still online, I had to manually open the IP though as I didn't find it in the server browser :D

And it's loaded with utcompmod, you enable it with F5 and it allows you to change anything with regards to mutators, maps, game modes etc.

It was on Deathmatch and I changed it to CTF and it worked without a problem. So at least we have server online for UT2K4. I wonder if I were to ask Mweb they can probably host UT99 and UT3 servers for us. I pretty sure iGame can put up one server for UT3 seeing that they had servers for it previously.

Players looking for UT2K4, drop me a pm I can help you out :)

A bit late to the party, but I have to say I love/d UT3. All my buddies were playing COD 4, COD WAW at the time - wussies. I personally think it's been one of the underrated and neglected multiplayer games out there, especially in South Africa. I mean, how many other games can boast game modes such as vehicle CTF and Warfare. Sure there's BF3 but does your soldier have a hover board and a flak cannon? No. The PC version was released back in Nov 2007 and IMHO, it still looks awesome. Apart from Quake, it's probably one of the quickest multiplayer FPS games out there. My eyes were burning after each session of all the bunny hopping skipping jumping flying dodging of plasma beam rocket flak fire. It was fun, but I've retired the game and actually want to sell my copy if anyones interested...:D

You guys must say if and when you want to play again, just leave a reply in the thread and I'll host a server :)

Let's aim for Fri, Sat or Sun. 7pm onwards, are we going ut99, ut3 or 2004 ? :)

If you cant decide which game to play when, then just do it like this

Monday = UT99
Sat = Ut2004
Sun = UT3

:P

What about Friday ? :p

I'd say:

Friday = UT99
Saturday = UT2K4
Sunday = UT3

If a lot people don't have UT2K4, then we can focus rather on the other two instead. :)

Put it down to a vote maybe? I won't be able to make it, but I vote UT3!!!
Just out of curiosity, what kind of game modes do you guys normally play when you jam UT3 (Deathmatch, Vehicle CTF etc.)?
Maybe I should install this again...

I only have UT3 so that will get my vote... as for game types I prefer warfare but you need numbers for that.

OK I do own the other 2 just don't have them installed...

With regards to game modes, I always prefer team based modes like Team Deathmatch, CTF, Domination, Warfare, Onslaught although I also love Last Man Standing in UT99. I'm not that big of a Deathmatch fan, although some players like Peon did ask for DM last weekend when we played UT3.

After I got the Webadmin utility working for UT3, it's a breeze now to change game modes on the fly for me, so I don't need to quit the game to restart the server. With UT99 I'm pretty sure with the ProVote3 mutator that I had running last time we can also vote to change game modes. For UT2K4, we can use the Mweb server that is still online, it also has a UTCompmod mutator running which also allows you to change game modes etc.

For the time being, we can use the following channel on IRC on shadowfire.org, it's called #NH-NFSU. It's a channel that someone created for me to organize games for Need for Speed Underground, but that pipe dream of mine also didn't really get off the ground. So we can rather use the channel to talk about UT and organize games there :D

If you guys can download nzbs, I can help you out with UT99, UT2K4 and UT 3 ;)

PS: I did buy myself a copy of UT3 from Takealot for R54 on Monday, so now I have a legit copy of UT3 too :D
