Let's see how long Telkom takes...

Well the got the guy to come out to install...and it all seemed to go well, until management of the complex informed me that I need board approval to install. So I have applied for that, should be approved by Month end and then I will log in with Telkom again...

So i suppose you win by default! :)

By no means at all. My request with the body corp has not been approved yet either. :(

Sigh, do you guys have dstv? The previous lady that stayed in the flat I am in now had dstv... Just tell them is a new sort of dish they are testing :D

I have DSTV. Installed it without asking the body corp but then again it sits low to the ground out of view from the streets in the complex. Phoned Telkom again to ask why they did not pitch and was told that they will contact the technician to find out. Still waiting...

Well nothing new from my side. Talking to Telkom is like yelling into a deep valley. All you here is the echo of the last guys you talked to. I am not phoning them again until a technician phones me for an installation appointment. :( For now iBurst will just have to do...

You're doing this wrong.

Do something that will make it completely and utterly inconvenient and damn right near impossible for you to be available to interact with telkom.

At precisely the moment that you are unavailable, that's when they'll call and want to meet you on-site.

Uhm, just a quick question, but are you guys Telkom fans ? I see some of you are opting for fixed wireless internet but then taking the business to Telkom ? That is very strange.

Try www.amobia.com

Well there are a few reasons and I will list them below:

1. They do not cover my area.
2. I do not have R1999 cash laying around for the install and equipment.
3. How do I know they have sufficient back haul bandwidth? (current iBurst user so I know the pain)
4. Why is this the first time I have heard of them?

So they might work for other people on this forum but not for me. Thus Telkom is my only option.

They are amazing, I have a 2mbps connection but download at about 3.5mbps all the time. Ask them to do a free site test before you sign up at Hellkom and become a f.buddy of satan himself.

An no, Telkom is never the only option you have, there is always at least to other options such as 3G or watching snails mate. Both are better than Telkom.

LOL @ Snails. Ok I will contact them for a free site test.

I had Amobia do a free site test this morning and unfortunately I do not have any reception. I kind of thought this would happen but had to try. I would recommend this company to anyone as there customer service is excellent. They are friendly and very helpful. Amobia gets my thumbs up. :D Well now it is back to waiting for WiMax...

Yeah, I have been with them for a while and their customer service is top notch. Sure you need to fork out R2K for the CPE, but after that it is a dream. I Voip over it (to Japan) and there is no lag.
They must just drop their price a bit, 9c per MB is a bit much. Then again, I cannot violate my morals and go with Telkom. Neotel will call me when they cover my area.

have you tried helderberg wireless they offer a pay off scheme for their antennas can one game with these antennas online with a console

i dont know but they offering me the antenna for 2500 but im scared to sign up because im told they will have lots of latency problems using a playstation 3 to game on international servers :(

Are you talking about Amobia ? There latency is very good, I can run a tracert for you if you like, just give me the destination.

amobia was at my place and there is no signal helderberg is offering me the system cause my neighbour has their antenna

Guys if I take a look at the Helderberg site they only cover Cape Town so it has no impact on me as I am in Joburg. So please stay on topic.
