well Kochira, presuming you are representing help from within sentech.

You need not tell us what we already know and are experiencing...

How about telling us in what capacity can you help us. Humouring us with posts will only do tech support and Sentech damage. (once again presuming you really are from Sentech)

You the tech support... Do you have ANY suggestions to fix this?

My ticket number is on your system you can start with that :)

*points a garp* yea what he said..answer those.
Also why are they not using contention ratios's instead of sharing bandwidth?!? Because from a previous explanation it seems that we are paying for half the speeds of our prescribed packages (even though we're getting 48kbps speeds)
/me keeps clicking refresh button in anticipation of receiving answers..

alright, as i said, there IS a limit on International Bandwidth, and it's damn small..
So no-matter what package you're running, at the moment you should all get the same peak, depending on your signal strength and all that shee..

Local bandwidth should suffice for now.
The problem lies(I think), in the connections and a bit in the towers.. (Nodes)

And also people, please stay up to date with service packs and (dialer)software updates.

Kochira, welcome back. Boy did you miss the fun yesterday...

Talking of Software updates? When did Sentech ever contact me, or post any messages on their wonderfull Bulletin Board that there are updates available?

OK, now I am confussed. ?

If you look at the following http://www.ispa.org.za/members.htm you will see inforsat or now known as sentech is a Large member, this entitles them to peer into jinx for local traffic, like most others isp's do.

Sentech Ltd. (SENTE-2)
Sentech Systems (SENTEC)
Sentech Systems 209CCSENTECH (NET-209-26-199-0-1) 209.26.199.0 - 209.26.199.255
Sentech INFOSAT-196-36-109-32-27 (NET-196-36-109-32-1) 196.36.109.32 - 196.36.109.63
Sentech INFOSAT-196-36-109-64-27 (NET-196-36-109-64-1) 196.36.109.64 - 196.36.109.95
Sentech INFOSAT-196-36-97-0-24 (NET-196-36-97-0-2) 196.36.97.0 - 196.36.97.255

This is a search result of an Arin.net lookup of IP addresses, so they own there own IP addresses,

So based on the following.

1. Sentech runs its own satelite facility

2. Is a large member as well as owns its own IP address space

Why does Sentech not get there own local and international. or based on the following

Lets assume that Sentech have 3000 MYWI users at 600 per months thats 1.8 Million a month.

So if International bandwidth costs R 4000 per 64k dedicted 1 - 1 then sentech could afford to buy

4 Megs International for R 500 000

8 Megs International for R 1 Million

Leaving them a whopping 800 000 per month profit ?

I used the Internet once but then my sitffy drive broke.

Kochira, we ALL know that signal strength has NOTHING to do with connection speed. I've always had the same signal strenght, and my connection went from totally awesome to totally crap in a week...

next excuse?!

just because you a large member peering is not automatic ... there is a hefty fee to be paid ...

on more than one occation i have been told direct peering is on the cards ...

As I recall its R 35000.00 per 34mbit link into JINX .. of course excluding Telkom charges etc etc ...

Is that price still current or rather outdated ?

Funny that Sentech's peering via MTNNS is used for their SAIX connectivity ;-(?!

Here is a message for your bosses Kochira, if you do indeed work for Sentech (and cause it ultimately concerns your job you may as well pass it on)

In the past couple of days I have demonstrated Sucktech's service to over a hundred people. I don't have to say anything derogatory about it. I just let it sit next to a machine with a dial up. With barely an exception, the response is disbelief and lost customers for Sucktech. When there are people in the group who have already bought modems or signed long term contracts the job is even easier because they are highly vocal about what think of Sucktech! My clients are smack bang in the income group that Sucktech would love to target ... the pity is that despite the enormous amount Sucktech has spent on infrastructure and advertising these people will never now be Sucktech customers. I will continue to give these demonstration until the following conditions are met:

1. Total transparency with Sucktech's customers about what Sucktechs problems really are.

2. An engineer who is fully knowledgeable is assigned permanently to deal with all the technical queries on this forum in an open and transparent manner.

3. A customer service representative is assigned to permanently deal with other queries on this forum (like billing)

4. A bulletin board which provides uptodate information on throughput of traffic from every tower and onwards, stats on number of users etc and posts all problems on a real time basis.

5. Access to Sentech's logs and engineers to a select group of knowledgable users of this forum (like Rodent) to verify and query what we get told from Sucktech's engineer.

6. A written public acknowledgment that the way Sentech has treated its customers to this point was unacceptable and a commitment that they will improve in the future.

WAKE UP !!!

I have another 100+ people lined up for next week who are also about to cease to be any customer prospects for Sucktech. Its only going to get worse for you Sucktech from here on down.

Aaah but Sentech was totally transparent with its customers via the CUG, which hasn't exactly been totally transparent with us.... have the full minutes been posted anywhere yet?

regard it depends on the type of link obviously there is a telkom charge except for those on lan IE IS ... where they pay a line equivilancy charge ... [but much less than telkom would be]

you also have a joining fee of 20k that is to go toward facilities and upkeep

things may have changed that is about 2 years out of date ...

Without the facts (minutes) I've preferred to stay out of the CUG discussions, but jeez garp, how can you call a meeting with, let's say, 10 members of the CUG, which isn't officially representing the MyAdsl MyWireless users, who in turn make up less than 15% (if that much) of the total MyWi user base, as being "totally transparent" on the side of Sentech ? 1 meeting and suddenly ST is totally transparent, after 4 months of extreme non-disclosure and denials !! sounds like Marcel/Winston dictated that post for you. [:D][:D]

Careful with that stuff you smoke [:)]

Sentech can still suck my balls, and I was at the meeting... I am the king of bullsh!tting, and trust me, if all WERE revealed, I surely wasn't in that meeting...

but I'm not going to comment on anything, because by the looks of things, everyone's gstring is too tight...

Hell, my gran on a scooter with a memory stick is faster than Sentech's MyWireless!
