So Pompey have been taken over by some Abu Dabhi consortium, though I haven't heard a thing about them buying the best players... yet. What I find astounding (apart from the fact that Arabs like footy so much) is that these guys are willing to spend so much money in a league that is being fleeced by every other because there is already more than enough going around.

It's a given that mid-table English sides have more money than mid-table Italian/Spanish sides and every time they go out to buy a player, that player will cost extra. The Premiership Premium. Now there's another kid on the block who wants to play and it's really getting a bit silly now. England does not have the only footy league in the world. Imagine what could be done if the right amount of money was invested into... say... Ajax... or AC Milan. Fiorentina? Roma?

The Top 4 are so strong that only by immensely reckless spending will someone break into that category (Citeh might or might not...) and then what do you have? Huge imbalance. I reckon this will only be detrimental to the Prem in the long run.

What do you guys think?

Your comment make sense.

Even Chelsea are guilty of it, they broke into the top 4 proper only through some huge spending, you could say they really started it in the EPL.

Players prices are really stupid nowadays.

Its easier for the foreign owners to invest in EPL clubs. Italian and Spanish clubs are very protective and don't want foreigners investing in their clubs. Times might force them accept it eventually but till that time comes they will try and resist.
