Lets talk about South-African Guilds!

I've heard of a couple of SA guilds here and there... doing PvE what not... Do we have a competent one??

When I say "competent" I mean PvP mainly yes, GvG HoH - but also takes part in PvE events (dungeons, DoA, UW Hard Mode, etc). Whatever is fun.

We are a team of PvP and x GvG players looking for a fun yet competent Guildwars SA guild, were we can relate and have fun.

Who are we? Well for those whom are interested in knowing:

I started GW about 3 years ago... roughly at the beginning of the 1st world championships where The Last Pride [Evil] still played.

We started a South-African team of close friends and we did fairly well - reached rank 150 at highest... not great but was ok for a bunch of people whom only had 2 experienced players and six 1 month-old newbies.

Eventually most people quit playing/got bored/had to study - etc... real life pretty much kicked in... you know the drill. I moved to a European team and played in a few top 100 teams for about a year and a half.

Lived in London at the time, but retired GW GvG when i came back to SA; thought our internet would be too slow to play GW at top PvP levels as intended... interrupting and infusing with lag isn't fun at all as I'm sure alot of you guys here can relate to.

Anyways, enough of the **** talk and long story - point is, we're looking to get back into the game, got unshaped connections which of course means no lag (weo!) and are looking to either join an existing guild, or start a new one.

SA players kick ass... for some strange reason we seem to catch on faster than people in other countries do. We just don't always have the time or resources to do so.

Ye, our lag pretty much sucks... it's hugely depressing to hear guys complain about high pings when they hit 50ms! :eek:
The best we can hope for on unshaped is 200ms+ (my personal highest being 183ms)

I might be interested on my one account. I can always make my other account Guild Leader.
I have about 3-4 people active atm, the rest are taking a break / leave of absence, basically what you are saying, life happens, boredom settles in and I haven't bothered to keep on recruiting since it's a full-time job and I wanna game man! ;)

I do still play basically every night.

Well thats awesome to hear! even if it's only 3-4, it's a starting point. I have 3-5 people (and more coming) currently active, and as you know we've just started putting things together.

If we can find a couple more interested people we can pretty much do anything... but for the time being lets run with what we have.

You say you have a guild - Are you in an Alliance or possibly the leader of one? Further more, Kurzick or Luxon?

Nope, not in an alliance. We are Kurzick again.
Couple of us were doing some heavy faction farming with the Melandru's Hope quest and the Luxon equivalent in Mount Qinkai, till ANet nerfed these HFFF runs to hell. We used it as a method of maxing our Luxon / Kurzick titles and getting some extra cash.
We were part of #2 Luxon alliance at the time (BGW, owning Aurios Mines) and then on Kurzick (owning Amatz), but I dropped the guild out cause we couldn't maintain the faction anymore.

Well if you like, shall we start off by forming an Alliance(Kurzick), meet everyone, do some guest GvGs - see who's good at what and what we need, and take it from there?

What do you think?


To everyone else - we're looking for anyone whom is interested in PvP mostly, but moreover - a social guild. Even if you believe you suck at PvP - which i doubt, come and join us if you are motivated and willing to learn. It won't be easy, but it will be fun ;)

I'd be interested in joining a South African guild.

However, I need assurance from the leaders that they're actually going to try and make this thing work, as too many a time have I joined a South African guild which becomes dead rather quickly. It would be nice playing with other active SA guys.

Hey Lydon :)

I can't promise you anything Lydon. But what do you have to loose? We're not starting a new job - nope... we're starting a team, where people can relate, have fun and compete in competitive PvP. If everyone works together to do their part, then it will be a success.

Thus - if you are motivated, and willing to change the way we look at South-African teams, come join us :) At the very least, you'll meet new people and make some friends... hell knows we'll even organize some nights to all go out drinking/play pool/or whatever we can think of. At the end of the day, we're looking at making a guild with all the South-African players in it and a Alliance filled with them aswell.

The plan as it stands is:
get all the guilds in SA whom are looking to participate, throw them all into 1 alliance, Form the core guild out of the people whom are really competitive and motivated.

We can sit around and wish for something, or we can try and do something about it, hopefully inspiring others to join us.

I was actually hoping you'd leave a msg here; you seem to be one of the more active people. What do you think?

Ye, I'd be willing to join the alliance and go from there, not much to lose and we're not in an alliance anyway, so...
It's the logical choice. :)

I like that you guys are looking at jump-starting GW.

It is very cool for a newb like me to see that Vets like yourself, Devill and Lydon are trying to get it going again.

From my point of view, 100% noob, it is very scary when you suddenly appear in this new world and expect to know what is what.

I am not ready yet to run around with someone until I am level 10 or so, it gives me the opportunity to grow with my sin and get to know the ins and outs of the build and combo's but help like materials/weapons and stuff will help out.

That is what I believe a guild should be about.
It is for the best of the guild after all! :D

My storage is getting rather full too. I'll see if I have anything that may be of worth to you. Think I have a few sets of gold daggers and have quite a collection of materials (man I remember the days before material storage...eish!!) I can help you out with should you need some for armour etc.

Looking forward to the guild guys!
