Let's talk Cologne

Looks like you a CK fan. I haven't smelled either of these. They both look like fresh type fragrances.

Davidoff Cool Water is an ancient fragrance. I really like the clean soapy smell. It's cheap as well so I alternate it as a daily. I love the clean shower fresh smell all day.

Ha ha yes on the ck
Still have 6 x 200ml & 2 x 100ml unopened ck ones :)
Also have Diesel Plus Plus, Issey Miyake, Bvlgari Black and various others

Yes, it's an advertorial for Fine Fragrances to sell their "smell alike" perfume. It seems they have opened up retail stores all over.

I'm keen to buy one or two and compare to my originals.

I bought a "clone" of my favourite (Hermes) on a whim through a lady in one of the neighbouring offices and frankly I prefer it to the original. I don't think that designer perfumes really have much more to them apart from the marketing. You can buy kits with all of the extracts and guides, etc. how much could those things really differ from what you'd find in a perfumiers atleier? Probably not much IMHO.

The bottle it came in is trash though lol.

Anybody seen the billboard for a documentary called Odour?I havent seen it, but the ad on the radio and from discussion with some colleagues, suggests that all big brand perfumes cost about R30 to make per bottle.

Seems to be some sort of marketing campaign disguised as a documentary
Yup.

While some of the above info in the video may be true, I found that the Fragrance Find smell-alikes or knock-offs don't last even 1 hour on my skin. I prefer spending on the original product only at discounted prices.

Human beings are easily swayed and influenced, especially when it comes to smell.

put it in a fancy bottle, and people think its expensive,
but it in a cheap bottle, and even if its the exact same, people wont buy it.

I'm like this despite knowing exactly whats happening. Clink of a heavy glass bottle just has a vibe.

Love CN, my wife uses my one a lot!

Terre is the one I go for though, big fan of vetiver based fragrances. Tom Ford's Grey Vetiver is another great one it's colder and less earthy than TdH, maybe nicer at night if you are into that approach.

The first time I smelled CN was on a woman*. I found it odd that she was using a men’s fragrance but it seems they like it. Have been considering getting one but haven’t traveled recently so might consider the “fake” if you don’t mind sharing where you got it.

*I hope she wasn’t your wife.

Riflesso by Trussardi and Acqua Essenziale by Salvatore Ferragamo are both inexpensive and really popular with ladies.

Anyone know where I could get Nautica Voyage locally? I know it is on Loots site but it's drop shipped so I don't want to wait for them to procure it. It's cheap and rated high. Wanna give it a try.

You can get fragrances for a good price on fragrancex.com. If you like Nautica Voyage, look at Acqua Essenziale by Salvatore Ferragamo.

The problem with fragrancex.com might be shipping to South Africa - not sure if they would use the post office or not.

I got a clone of TdH not sure if she had CN and offices closed for WFH at the mo. Maybe available at one of these bootleggers mentioned below?

BTW: CN is unisex AFAIK. Not that it makes any difference, it's cute as hell smelling one of your scents on your SO.

It's not worth importing fragrances, 45% duties + 15% vat means the landed price can get rather extreme.

Old thread revival as it came to mind.

I have made a few additions to my collection recently.

Mont Blanc Explorer (one of my favourites)
Davidoff Cool Water
Prada L'Homme
Hugo Boss Orange
Bently Momentum
Davidoff Horizon
Baldesarini Nautical Spirit
Ted Lapidus (cheap daily)

Have you guys added any nice fragrances recently?

I am keen to get D&G The One and Aqua Di Gio Profumo soon
I just blind bought D&G The One edt and Carolina Herrera 212 VIP Men edt last week. Enjoying the CH 212 for now.
Yet to open The One and find out if it wasn't an expensive mistake

I haven't used any of the fragrances on your list. Although, years ago I used a knockoff of Ted Lapidus and loved it. Yet to try the authentic one and find out if it smells the same.

I still stand by my statement decades ago that Old Spice cologne is still the best. It has a fresh and clean scent that women love - I regularly get comments on how good I smell from children, teenagers and women.

Currently using Versace Eros (Blue) and Valentino Uomo.
