Let's talk Cologne

If we take the they are different fragrances out of the equation and just look at it, ito longer lasting is edp better/stronger?
I'm not quite a fragrance aficionado like some of you guys, so curious to know this.
And I'm speaking generally here, not referring to your specific example.

It should be on paper but in practice it can in fact be almost weaker than the EDT version. Lots of brands seem to throw around the terms EDP and Parfum purely as marketing terms rather than the actual meaning which is the dilution ratio of the pure Parfum oils with alcohol.

Easiest way to check, is to see what sort of % oil concentration is being used. Parfum, Eau de Parfum, Exrait etc

The stronger perfumes uses more oil concentration and less alcohol, vs ones that uses less oils but more alcohol .

Last week I bought Salvatore Ferragamo F from Takealot last week. R499 for 100ml was cheap. It's a very mature and sophisticated fragrance to my nose. Lasts a good 6 hours on me with projection.

I layered it with 2 sprays of ADG Profumo because I felt they had a similar vibe. My goodness is it a good combo.

How does the Bleu de Chanel Parfum compare to Acqua Di Gio Profumo?
I have the Profumo and am considering BDC if it is not too similar to the Profumo

to me they are not at all similar. ADGP is dry and smokey, while BDCP is slightly sweet and citrusy & spicy.

They are both excellent IMO, and not redundant.

best thing to do is going to edgars/woolworths, with no fragrances on, and try it there. try them properly though, like a spray on each wrist skin and a spray on chest on your clothes

Fragrantica is also a good place to get a "scents" of what you might like based on what you do like :)

Thanks, and thanks for pointing out Fragrantica.

I currently have ADGP and D&C Light Blue Intense...both great.
They are definitely have something in common as I can also see on Fragrantica.

I am considering BDCP, Spicebomb Extreme and maybe Le Male Parfum.
Then I guess I better stop before...if I can .

It might be too late :D

Try Allure Home Sport Eau Extreme too, it is awesome. But pretty much all the "male" Chanel's are excellent

I'll add that to my list to go test. And I also would like to smell Dior Sauvage Elixir

Not similar at all but the Chanel is very good, one of my favorites, go for it if you give it a test and it works.

I'd also give it a solid thumbs up.

Was in Edgars the other day and tested Dior Homme Cologne.....smelt like lemon detergent.

Definitely don’t do the bolded part.
They are all completely different fragrances, not weak to strong.
Take Bleu de Chanel for e.g. the EDT is “stronger” then that EDP, but at the same time they are quite different.
Oh bs.. They're exactly the same.. Different strengths only.

I was at a shop and bought me cologne at the last minute cos I did not reach the shop that sells the 'expensive' knock offs at under R150 for like 100ml.. The big names like Chanel Hugo Boss Diesel etc...
It turns out This R30 cologne smells similar to either the Dunhill Blue or Dunhill Desire.

I am the type of person that will buy big brand knock off cologne for cheap happily.

Is it the parfum version?

There are some EDT that I love BUT in general I prefer parfum versions.
