Let's talk Gatsbys

I had a tikka chicken gatsby from a place called Cookies in Lansdowne, R80 for a whole one.

Unfortunately it incurs a cost of R50 petrol (for me to get it) which means it comes to the same price as a Mariams chicken gatsby

You should take a long, hard look at that baby of yours and have a paternity test done. But don't be thick, don't do it now, maybe in ten years' time when his veins are thicker so that I don't have those many years left to pay maintenance. I love how he grunts while making a stinky

:D

hahaha

you can have one with crispy chips, toasted roll, nicely presented salad in the roll

with cheese and very nice meat
You have to rephrase for the laanies

Piquant farm grown, grass fed choice beef dulcified with pasted tomato relish and crispy potato fritters, topped with semi soft 4 month matured white cheddar, on a bed of crunchy organic produce enclosed within a tasteful oblong African ciabata roll. Served family style.

That's no longer a gatsby!
Slap chips, sloppy sauce... trashy food that's comfort food is what make an authentic gatsby.

excellent imran. excellent!:crylaugh:

Without the right roll your Gatsby is doomed.

Better just to make individual chip trolls with fillings.

slightly off topic.

Had a naan bread gatsby from a place called Zaaika. Chicken tikka too. Which essentially was just one giant wrap.

The tikka was sweet. Wife ordered a butter chicken, this too was sweet. wtf cape town? since when do traditional indian dishes get sweetened?

It's a frikkin liability. In SA in general, loads of stuff are made sweet. Marinades, basting, sauces, curries, pizzas...even jalapeños and gherkins.

If you're not from here, this is blasphemous activity all round

^, co-sign the irritation. The only legit sweet curry should be that Malay thingy (which I avoid) because that's the way they make it.

Everything else should not taste like a couple dollops of Mrs Balls was chucked in.

We're taking after the US market where most things are sweetened these days.

As for curries, bloody capetonians are just too pansy to take a real curry.

last night i had a polony, vienna, russian and cheese with chilli mayo and secret sauce

oh so good from food planet strand
