Letter to iBurst

Have any of you guys ever tried living overseas? I just arrived back from four months in Australia... tell you what, it sucked. Firstly, there wireless bandwidth prices are almost on par with ours. I paid AUD$129 for 12GB Downloads (uploads are free, which helped with torrents). I think ADSL2 is probably a lot cheaper than wireless though, but I didn't have a phone line.

The whole way of living is different overseas, mostly, I missed my maid! I was actually seriously glad to be back, crime and all... I just wish this damn country would change... nothing like Africa, except the governments currently ruining it.

Just because you had a bad experience in Australia doesn't mean every country overseas is like that. I stayed in the United States for a year and if I have to give a rating, I'd say 9/10. Everything just works over there - public transport, cable TV, and most of all..... 6mb/s UNCAPPED BROADBAND INTERNET for $49 a month!

yeh...thats just internet though.... do you like doing your own housework, ironing, etc.

Also, the cost of living overseas is a lot more expensive. Things like broadband, etc, might be cheap, but good food, eating out, that sort of thing isn't

I do my own house work HERE, what are you implying with that?

Compared to London, J-burg has no effective public transport, is dirty, corrupt and unsafe. Sure, cost of living goes up, but luxury items comes down. All in all it all averages out for better living conditions.

Thought I'd add my 2c here with regard to iBurst.

I cancelled my iBurst M2M yesterday, and did the adsl self install.

I am totally fed up with iBurst. I had serious problems about 2 months ago. I phoned their support desk only to be continually shunted around until eventually I couldnt take it any more. When I demanded to speak o a techy, they eventually agreed, only to put me on the line to someone who took my details and told me someone will contact me with 48 hours.

Like I said, this was about 2 months ago.

I waited about 8 or 9 days, got fed up and tried again. Eventually couldnt take it any more and posted a complaint on H Peter. Still nothing. I then posted a follow up complaint again on H peter. Still nothing to date. Not even a call.

End result, iBurst dont have my R469-00 every month any more, and I always advise people to stay clear of them.

iBurst - Up yours!

Nothing... I just like someone doing that work for me... I H-A-T-E ironing and dishes.

I agree with you on Jhb., can't stand the place, if I had to choose between Jhb. and overseas, I'd leave.

But I enjoy Cape Town, I have a car, so public transport isn't neccessary in my case. The crime in Cape Town isn't as bad as Jhb.

I suppose it depends on who you are and where you are in life. I'm comfortable in SA... I just think certain things need to change... but unfortunately the probably won't... they'll probably get worse, but until then, I'm staying put.

I think we're off-topic though...wasn't this thread about iBurst?

Oh what...its about the country going to sh*t...that covers iBurst perfectly :-P

just phone the bank and tell them to stop payment to iBurst... I've done that to a few companies that have screwed me around... its amazing the sort of service you get when you put a stop on debit orders.

Iburst sux. I've been trying to cancel my month-to-month since start may and why haven't they cancelled it coz according to their records I owe them money? How is this possible if it's a debit order on my account?

You're not the only one complaining.

Looks like they've had a crash on one of their databases and lost some information, and is now trying to get people to pay...

IANAL, IMHO and AFAIK : Banks are, required by law, to keep a record of transactions from today until 5 years ago. It can help if you can go to your bank and request a statement regarding the disputed period(s).

It's quite possible that you do owe them money since that debit order also missed out a few months of my payments, this could have happened when they were changing their accounts staff.

Check all your bank statements carefully since you joined iburst and you might find the answer as to why they say you owe them money.

Don't put a stop to your debit order until you are sure all payments were made.

Yup... if you're unsure about owing them money and put a stop on your debit order, they could have you listed.

Now you're speaking about tasteless food.

Actually, take-away food overseas actually has a taste...and looks like the advertisment pics...not like the slop we get here. :D

You think Big Macs overseas are good?

We also have good take away food here, just not McDonalds.. anywhere in the world
