Nobody should know that. All it means is that IF anything happens, they'll be prepared with 5-7 guys with rifles expecting resistance.

Ours come in for half a day once a week at R1200 per month. I don't think I will ever let her go from my side, but I will also never increase the pay so if she finds something better one day, she can let us go.

That's R300 for a morning's work. More than generous and fair on your part.
 
I'm out 6 AM to 6PM+ every week day, I don't have time for cleaning etc
how you guys do it without help is beyond me.

If you're out that long, you don’t need a maid since no-one is there to make your place dirty.

It helps if you spend money to make it easier on yourself.
Dishwasher and a cordless vacuum are must haves. You can clean the house with 30 min a week day and maybe a couple of hours on the weekend.

That said when I worked long hours my domestic was great. I didn't see her for 6 months, but once a week I came home to a clean house.

I employ a Zimbabwean domestic worker and to be honest I cannot even figure out if she is here illegally or not. Probably, but she has such a long and convoluted explanation (in broken English) that I am not even sure myself.

WFH helps for me. I recall working those hours, it's rough and a maid was indispensable.

False. They still entitled to take you to CCMA and protected by the law and is your responsibility as owner to help them to become legal. Of course you can be fine and in worse case imprisoned for employing an eligal worker, so you better get it fixed quickly, which you won't be able to do.
