LG DVD writer

Hey guys,

I've got a slight problem with my LG DVD writer... occasionally when I put in blank DVDs it will refuse to read it and the light on the drive will flash continuously.

Normally I just switch the computer off and then on again a while later and the drive will work so it's not that it's broken but the whole thing is extremely inconvenient.

Any ideas on why this is happening?

It's a sata drive running on a 775 mobo with windows 7 32 bit installed.

Just buy a new one, there's no point in struggling with it as they about R120.

I would replace it per above - even if under warranty, not worth the effort to replace through LGE

IMO it is not software related. Best to replace it.

Before replacing reflash firmware, even the same version. Had prolem with older LightOn after power surge during writing. Flashing firmware reset media learned settings.

Had the same problem with my LG dvd writer. Replaced it with a Sony, and it gave me the same problem again. Turns out my power supply was on it's way out. Replaced the power supply, and now both dvd writers are 100%
