LG G3 Android 5.0 Lollipop update for SA

I hope other manufacturers learn from this and act quick when it comes to android updates.

I have a Note 3 and have come to expect the android update to be launched months later based on previous experience with android updates from samsung :(

That really shouldn't be the case.
 
Bumping an old thread here but does anyone know what happened to this update. Its January now and my G3 is still not picking up any update for lollipop (on Vodacom if that makes any difference).

Would love to but unfortunately that means rooting the phone which I can't do as certain other apps I need won't then run due to the rooting.

What apps are those? It's very uncommon for root to break apps.
 
Corporate email plus a few other company specific financial apps in my case. Due to security concerns these are deliberately designed to not be able to run on any rooted device.
 
Any idea how to fix battery issue after two weeks on latest build my battery live is up to ... And now it only charges to 80% in wireless doc nd its cooking hot. Luckily USB charge still works. Btw have 2 doc and 2 batt both doing the same.

Is this upgrade available on MTN? I noticed that they advertised the G3 with Lollipop in their April brochure but it is on KitKat in their March brochure. Chances are if I go to them tomorrow for this phone, it will still be on KitKat.
