I'm very happy so far. When I waited for my upgrade to be processed I thought to myself, why am I doing this, because I am so happy and impressed with my G3.

But coming from a Note 3, Xperia Z3 and the G3, I must truly say that I'm impressed with the G4.

I had my concerns about the Snapdragon 808, but it's really very responsive. The camera is outstanding and in manual mode there is nothing that can compare. Only thing missing is optical zoom.

One of my wife's clients has the S6 and she is very upset that she didn't listen to me when I told her to wait for the G4.

I don't know what you like when it comes to phones, but it seems like you like to have the latest and greatest. Then the G4 will make you very happy.

Guys, I got my G4 at Vodaworld yesterday. Metro are having a special, R419pm on Smart S which included G4 + extra 32gig SD card, extra battery + external battery charger + extra silver cover, not a bad deal...

Phone is superb. Coming from Z2 and Note 3, really enjoying the G4. Battery life seems to be pretty decent, took it off charge around 10:30pm last night and currently sitting on 74% remaining with some google updates, whatsapps and fiddling.

Camera is amazing, especially the manual mode if you into that sort of thing.

Really glad I waited for this phone!

A few of you have had Note 3's in the past, how does the G4 with a slightly smaller screen and soft buttons(home, back, etc) compare?

Well, I'm not looking back at all. The 0.2inch doesn't really make a difference.

I still use my Note 3 as my work phone for e-mails etc but to be honest, if you don't use the stylus that much then I reckon you won't miss the Note 3 at all. I'm actually finding the G4 a lot more comfortable to hold, the Note 3 just feels so much heavier now. :)

I really want to get this phone but I read some reports this weekend regarding the g4 and s6 and the s6 seems better on paper.

I then thought to myself would I actually notice the difference in cpu speed?

Would the s6 screen be noticibly better than the g4?

I think I am going to give this phone a go and hope for the best. My only concern at this stage is battery life and a nice deal from MTN.

My decision was based on the following:

R689 for the S6 Edge or R449 for the G4? Is the S6 Edge really worth the extra R240 per month?

I use my camera a lot and the manual controls of the G4 is really a huge plus for me. Yes, the Edge does look nice and stylish, but the leather back of the G4 is even more stylish. The Black, Gold and Brown Leather is the perfect combination.

I can't really complain about battery life. As long as my phone last throughout the day without having to plug in the charger, I'm happy. I took my G4 off charge this morning at about 8:30 and it's currently on 64% 8 hours later. Enough juice left to keep in running till bed time.

Thanks for the info. Regarding the battery life that you mentioned. Is that with moderate or high usage?

You will have to compare the G4 with the S6. Not the Edge variant. But yes, still a bit of a price difference.
For me it comes down to the small price difference plus the SD card capabilities of the G4. I cannot do with only 32GB on a phone as I use my phone as my torrent device. And the lure of a bigger screen is also tempting me away from my current S4 to the G4.

The reason why I chose the Edge is because I have the 32GB version with 32GB SD Card.

SO's Brother has the s6 edge.
we have both got the g4.
this weekend we all played around for a while. fun little things.
we put an A4 paper with some small text (going from 12pt font down to 8pt) on a wall outside. we all stood next to one another abotu 15m away. took a photo in normal mode with no zoom. then we zoomed in and the one with the least pixalted text won. the SO won. (my shots were shaky) the S6 started pixalating at 10pt where the g4 the 10pt was not pixelated.

after that all photo's were taken by the SO because she is better at it. we moved back a bit firther and fiddled with settings and took the photos again.
then we printed out a new sheet with 6pt on as well.

when you fiddle with the camera settings you can really get some detail in there that the s6 just cant match. its close dont get me wrong,

but I think the real world application of this is kinda pointless. the situations where you would see this difference is where the fast launch of the s6 is very good. but the double click of the volume down while the phone is locked is just as good.
