LG G4

Hi All
I was wondering for all those who have had their LG G4's for a while now what is your opinion of the device ? I know it has a great camera but besides that how has battery life been ? Performance in day to day use and RAM management ?

Im trying to decide on a new device for myself and have already ruled out any of the new Samsung devices after being disappointed with the way the RAM is so aggressively managed which leads to page reloads etc when multi tasking etc . So basically I am looking at the LG G4 (I had a LG G3 last year) or going back to stock android with a Nexus or close to stock android with a Motorola .

Any thoughts and views from those who have had the device (LG G4) now for a while would be great

Thanks

PS: Any views on the durability of the leather backs from those using the device without a cover ?

I have one and my SO has one.

we got Tempered glass screen protectors because no ADH. not being Samsung.

we have been using them since June and I am impressed by the phone every day.
average screen on time for me is around 3 and a half hours per day. unless I play hearthstone. that app is so badly optimised but so fun...

SO dropper her phone, there is a slight nick in the leather back. but no one would notice that.

we both have been using the cover the phones came with, and its perfect.

I would recomend this phone above anything, to anyone. and I have. that is why by best friend has one, and Akasha has one...

Well I'm not the one with the phone but my sister certainly isn't having any issues with RAM management. But she's a fairly light user probably, just social crap and 1 or two games.

Her biggest gripe is that it's definitely a charge daily situation. At the end of the day she's usually nursing less than 10% (after a couple of Spiderman Unlimited runs as well, so not just social crap and normal data use). And you better have a car charger or powerbank handy when using the GPS cuz it has the ability to eradicate a fully charged battery in no time at all. Some smartphones can give you more than that these days so that sucks.
On GSMArena the G4 gets 10 less endurance hours than the G3 (from 64 to 54).

Other than that she loves it and no signs of wear or tear on the leather cover yet.

I can't complain about anything. This phone just works flawlessly.

I have a brown leather back and also the black leather back cover.

The black is very durable. The brown is showing some wear and tear.

Do you think you could take some pics of the two covers next to each other ? I like the colour of the brown, but the texture seems better on the black from what iv seen in pics . Unfortunately no one here has one on display with the leather back, they all have the plastic backs.
Thanks

Here is a pic.

Hope you can see what you want to see. The black does feel much better.

Thanks , The black does look more textured and thicker . It also looks as if it would wear better over time than the brown .

Anybody here have the G4 and the G4 Beat for a SO perhaps?

How do they compare? Massive differences?

The G4 beat is actually decent. The G3 beat will disappoint.

Thanks. Wife and I are renewing contracts tomorrow.

I'm currently torn between the G4 and Samsung S6. Probably going G4. Wife wanted the P8 lite but stock is non existent. So her next option was G3 beat or G4 Beat.

Bought a G4 for R5999.00 on Takealot earlier this week, thats a lot of phone for that price.

Yeah it is a difficult one. G4 is a much better looking phone for me than the S6 but all the reviews I've read, the s6 gets the nod ahead of G4.

Not that it matters now. Telkom doesn't have stock of either. But wife just picked up her G4 Beat now.

Pity. Go play with both - it will make the decision even more difficult! I actually ended up getting an Edge over the G4.

Cool! Let us know how it is :)

Wasn't able to play with the G4 in store. Their demo model has been demo'ed to death by somebody.

Did play with the S6 and although it is very nice it is just another Samsung. Previously had the S2, S3 and for a while S4 mini.

Really impressed with wife's G4 Beat so far. Good crisp and bright screen, goodish camera and everything is smooth and snappy so far. Haven't tested the sound out that much yet. Seems a bit on the soft side.

Also came with two back covers. Metallic looking one and a leathery one.

For some context. She just dumped the iPhone 4S and I'll be upgrading from a Sony Xperia Z1 eventually.

Whow going from a iPhone 4s to a LG G4. It is like going from David to Goliath.

Yeah time to try something else... How much cheaper is the s6 pm? I'm sure you will enjoy the g4 with its manual mode + raw support.

R30/month cheaper.

R399 for the S6
R429 for the G4
Weird, the s6 was more expensive when I got my g4 on the smartplan 100. Btw I think the Menlyn branch is the best one to try and get stock form.
