LG G4

Out of interest, what did you remove on yours?

I'd have to hook it up and check exactly, but all Vodacom bloat, most LG stuff (including the annoying LG keyboard - it would keep popping up as a notification to choose keyboards when I used 3rd party keyboard like Google KB, every time I typed), Google junk I don't use (G+, books, games, newstand etc). Lots of it could be disabled by going into App Info and choosing Disable, but another 20% or so did not allow this without the tool. My main aim was to kill the LG keyboard, that's what got my googling for a solution, I found the tool and killed a few more items that wouldn't allow me the conventional way.

Where can one find this tool?

Can a few people view their list of saved and available networks and tell me what happens please?

When I look at mine, even when connected to my router at full bars it still scans/searches for new networks every 10secs, is that normal?

just checked mine and although it is connected to my router, it searches every 5secs - weird.....

Mine too, every 5 or 6 secs, no wifi issues though

Well seems I've solved the wifi issue, nothing a little eyestrain inducing googling can't solve.

Found a thread on some android forum and the G4 needs a longer than usual dhcp lease time to function, turns out the lease time on my router was 1min, changed that to a few hours and it's seems very stable. No clue why every other device had no issue with that setting but such is things!

very interesting - so the other router that you tested the G4 on also had such a short lease time?

That's a good point, haven't checked but on my router it is now working as expected with a long DHCP lease set, the wifi stability on the G4 was immediate after it was changed

There must be a bug in the G4 wifi in general to some degree because wifi issues of some sort or other are quite widespread, the way I understand it is the dhcp lease is like a reservation of an ip address allowed by the router unless it is not accessed for longer than the time specified in the lease setting, so if you are continuously connected then a short lease should have no problem?

With the 1min lease and the G4 I could be reading a thread and by the time I get to the end of the page the wifi connection would have bombed.

Still, what a relief, stoked!

Hmm
I can't find such a setting in my Netgear DGN2200 so I can't see whether mine is already set to long. Cuz my sister has no issues at all.

Anyone manage to get Alt-tab/last app functionality working on the G4 with 5.1? It works but the app will restart rather than return to the point where you were when you switched. Such a killer function, but looks like Lollipop is the reason it doesn't work, but hopefully someone has got it working on the G4?

Alt-tab?

Does the app switcher square in the bottom left not do what you want it to?

If apps don't return where they should be with his "alt-tab" app, does it return where it should be via the little app switcher blocky in the bottem left?

Seems to work fine switching with the system task list via the block button.

Alt-tab /last app function is built into Android OS and you can assign it to a swipe via 3rd party apps. So in essence you can switch between 2 apps, the current app and the last used app, instantly with just a swipe, no need to press the square, wait for the task list, select the app etc, instant joy!

Really missing it, would live to get it working on my G4, works on all my other devices running KitKat.
