LG G4

I used the one XDA download and it works like a charm, do the apps get unblocked when you install ota updates etc?

Anyone know of a reliable list of which apps are safe to block?

Killer tip!!! :D

Couldn't understand why my ancient Note 3 smoked the G4 in terms of speed when switching tasks/task list/going to home screen/back etc.
Found this which almost brings it up to the Note's speed, strangely not quite there even though in all other respects the G4 beats the Note speed wise, loading pages/app rendering etc:

To speed up your phone, you can turn off screen animations. Go to Settings – Developer options.
Then scroll down to Window animation scale and select that. From here you can choose to turn Animations Off. This will make screen transitions faster.
Note: Developer Options is not enabled by default. To enable, go to Settings – About Device. Then tap on Build number 7 times.

I just disabled all animations completely

I die that too when I got my phone. It's lightning fast.

Also switched on "force gpu rendering" now, could swear it's even snappier.

I noticed my Note 3 has a faster scroll, better implementation of scroll acceleration, swipe hard and I'll take you to the bottom of any page, which is immensely handy. The G4 is like a snail in that regard, can't find anyway to speed it up but the scroll is silky smooth though, the Note has a slight stutter every few pages scrolled.

Is there anyway to change the layout of the recent task/switcher list? And the softkey icons?

Damn I miss rooting!!

+1 Thanks for the tip. Works great. Phone is like lightning fast now. Wow I was going to ditch my G4 because these nitty gritty bugs are getting on my nerve now. One sorted just 1 to go more. The LED notification light not working like it should....

Don't know if you guys tried this launcher before
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tsf.shell

OMG it's amazing. Nothing I have ever seen before. Works so well with the G4 too. Super fast no lag at all.

That is very impressive, you don't think it's going to chew the battery?

I'm using TSF on my G3. It's nice but I still prefer Nova Launcher.

The longer I have used smartphones and computers the more I value simplicity. Tsf would be amazing if it was less busy and I don't need to tweak everything, to get it the way I want it. I'm going to see if I can pare it down a little.

Any idea why if you have a lock screen with security and you use smart unlock then when unlocking with a tap or unlock button you still have to swipe to unlock the screen?

The point of no lock screen is instant access, why add another step?

You talking about the LG lock screen witk knock code?

Yeah I think it will hey. Will report back. Spend some time to tweak it the way I like it and it's pretty awesome. No lag at all which means it's chowing CPU so battery will most likely suffer.

Everyone likes Nova but I can't see what is so nice about it. I like things big and wow so TSF is pretty cool.

Can you give us some details of the launcher.

Here is a Video showing off the launcher....

Ja LG knock code with smart unlock, ie when at home and the lock is disabled when you unlock the phone you still need to swipe the screen yet if you disable the lock code /knock code there is no swipe needed after dbl knocking the screen or the unlock button is pressed.

I guess that's just how it works. The point is no security, not no lock screen.

I thought my old Note with an El cheapo tempered glass screen protector was bad at registering screen touches, no my brand new G4 with only the factory screen protector is as bad if not worse :(

On the note(and all Samsungs I've had) the screen brightness level for user defined or automatic brightness each had their own slider, on the G4 there's only one slider that has to control both, now the setting has to be adjusted everytime you switch between the 2, #designfail

what are you on about dude?
I have only ever seen one brightness slider with a check next to it for auto increase.

and I think you might have one of the few touch screen Out of the box problems on the G4.
I was under the impression that fault was 100% fixed before they shipped to SA as I have not seen one complaint locally. but a bit of googling will show you there are a few people who have similar issues and should be able to simply replace the phone through your service provider/LG directly.

? No screen touch issues what so ever. First couple days with factory sticker thing on screen and then I got a tempered glass protector on, no issues at all.
Brightness settings are fine for me too, it auto adjusts and needs no manual interference.

On auto adjust or user specified brightness you can use the slider to determine either the fixed brightness in user mode or max brightness in auto, the problem is there is only one slider linked to both, on Samsung each setting had their own slider setting so you could perfectly fine tune each without needing to adjust it each time you changed from user defined brightness to automatic.

For most people that will be neither here nor there as automatic is perfect for most situations but I need to switch between the user defined and automatic brightness quite often which means readjusting the slider each time it's changed either way.

The touch screen isn't bad but neither is it better than my rather old note and that's with no tempered glass screen protector fitted.
