LG G4

Does anyone have the faintest idea when the Marshmallow Update in coming to SA (Vodacom)? I absolutely love my G4 but looking forward to having the latest and greatest software on it. So very happy with the LG G4, took the most amazing shots with it last night of the crescent moon rising over False Bay. I am astonished at the quality of the picture.

No idea, but a few of us are using Europes MM without hassles. No rooting, no unlocking bootloader required. Can go back to local version of LP if you want. No warranty issues.

How do I get this? Please tell me! And is it any good, or great improvement?

It's good, enjoying it. @faniedry was the first to do it as far as I know, I followed within several hours of him.
Use this tool (LGUP): http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/help/lgup-install-kdz-mm-lp-t3249803
Download this KDZ file: http://downloads.codefi.re/autoprime/LG/LG_G4/H815/H81520B/H81520B_00.kdz

Follow the UPGRADE from LP to MM instructions closely.

Enjoy!

Do I only download the 1.3GB file?
And what app do I use on my PC to do the firmware upgrade?

See above ;)

I thought this is pretty cool.

If you don't like widgets on your homescreen, but still like widgets nonetheless... I recommend this:

Snap Swipe Drawer

Basically gives you notification shade just for your widgets, I placed my calendar and weather widgets in there. You can set a specific point on the notification shade to swipe, it defaults to top right, which seems like a good place for me.

so the upgrade does not increase the battery life that much?
and doesn't fix the stupid notification LED?

Actually. I haven't noticed the notification LED yet.
Battery life is awesome like always... if you currently don't have awesome battery life, better look at that. An upgrade won't fix it.

no led issue for me and i used to have it on LP.
As faniedry said, amazing battery life, slightly better on MM, but not night and day.
While I also do't see a NEED to update, what prompted me was the "no risk" element regarding warranty and being able to go back to LP without hassle.

So I did the MM upgrade now (couldnt wait...) Process was really easy. Phone got quite hot and it is updating a lot of apps now ... Also experienced about 30% battery drain during the installation ... Is this normal? Will post another update once everything (hopefully) seems a bit more normal.

It does seem faster and smoother, maybe it is my imagination ... LOL. Will have to test the battery life and get back to you guys though.

Yeh, that's about normally, although I left mine plugged into USB while it was doing this. Can actually remember it losing power even though plugged into USB. So yeh, 30% sounds about right. Phone working at full capacity will do that.

Nice!
Yes, huge drain, working hard, only for the install and setup though. Now, enjoy! :)
