LG G4

I got myself a Qualcomm QC 2.0 charger and it now charges my phone at 9V and about 1.3A (11.7W)
Previously on stock charger, it was 5V and about 1.7A (8.5W)

So the new charger is a bit faster..... but not that much

Keep in mind the really fast charging only happens when the battery is near empty, it tapers right down after 50% charge.

yeah I've noticed that - I can top up roughly to 50% from 5% in about 30mins, but on my phone the last 50% seems to last the shortest :-(

So is it still worthwhile to get the G4? My Sony Z1 Compact's screen cracked when I sat on it in the Gautrain bus and my Nexus 5 has a serious hardware glitch that I can't seem to solve...

I prefer to buy my phones cash and from the previous generations the G4 seems to be the best value for money (Takealot special?)

I got mine yesterday. Fantastic phone. Love everything about it. Its now going for R379 p/m on MTN. At that price you cant go wrong.

Except MTN

Enjoy the phone!

hey I am with MTN
so all I can do is confirm....
but, yes welcome to the club SpiralS, you are going to enjoy this phone.

and ebendl it is definately still worth getting the G4.
I would say the G5 needs a lot to up this phone.

I think we got to the point in phones last year that we got to in CPU's when the i3,i5 and i7 range was released.
sure there will be upgrades, but they will all be small in comparrison to what came before them and most people will not notice them (take the difference between a 4th gen and 5th gen processor and compare that to the difference between an Galaxy S3 and s4)

Also the roumours running around that LG will release the L5 at the same time that samsung will release the s7, on my Bday at Mobile world congress.
also says the G5 will not have the buttons on the back, and will have a removable battery that comes as a cartridge, the bottom opens up, battery slides in and out like a game boy game....
and there is also rumours it will be completely modular, but we get those every year, for every brand...

I personally don't think that LG will do away with the back buttons. That's just a awesome hardware feature.

While everyone who has used them agree, apparently lg is doing away with them to fit more to the standard.

My husband can get a g4 for 4000. The concern i have is the bootloop problem. The serial number starts with 506 and apparently that falls under the batch that could have issues. Honestly is it worth it

If it's under warranty why not, doesn't seem very widespread, just a possible concern.

Have you guys received MM yet? Might go upgrade to this finally. Been pondering what to take for the longest time.

Just the difficulty in rooting, lack of wireless charging and fingerprint scanner putting me off but I can live without the last two. I must have root tho.

LGG 4 has only received OTA in Europe we flash manually, and wireless charging can be bought and installed quite frankly quick charge is enough for me plus the battery life is quite good on lollipop and marshmello I am going to be trying v20d and v20e this week and will get back if anyone is interested.

PS: I returned the S6 edge for this device and will do it again in a heart beat.

Can I get a link to the Rom to flash. And if you would indulge me, a tutorial on how to flash with LG... Coming from Samsung.

If not I'll come back after the United game and start my homework.

Ok so I did my research. I have the H815P... So no unlocking bootloader. =No root. FML

So now I can only flash stock roms via the LG flash tool? I just need the links to the roms. Been searching but there's nothing like SAMMOBILE all rom links have been suspect...

Edit: Been doing more digging... Will this software work on my 815P?

Just flash with LGup?

Follow this method Low effort root just use commands international H815 10c Version (****Disclaimer I am not responsible if anything goes wrong and you end up with a brick. Perform this solely on your own accord***).

Yes you can but some system logd process just drains the battery...however if you have root and twrp you can disable it.

So no unlocking bootloader.

How to unlock the bootloader official method

I have had this phone since June last year.
I was a compulsive rooter.

I have found no need to root the G4. there is nothing at all that I would gain from rooting.
sure Titanium backup would be nice, but this phone is so stable it makes the s4 look like a PC running Vista.

some people want reverse tethering so they root.

can you live without titanium backup? cna you love without reverse tethering?

because why do you NEED to root? what do you gain? custom launcher? nope do it without rooting. get MM, do it without rooting.

there is no need IMHO to root a g4. I have rooted every other phone I have gotten my hands on, to remove bloat ware or do something you cant do naturally. this phone is already there.
