The wheel on my magic remote gave up after almost only a year of use. The little stem holding it in position broke. What are my options to get a replacement remote? Are there any generic remotes that will work?

Best cheapish option is a programmable One For All remote, if you are ok to use the IR direct line of sight instead of wireless. They are well made and totally hassle free once set up.

Shop around for the best price. Most online and larger electronics shops keep stock of a number of their models.

Sweet. Hirsch is a little cheaper at R490. My TV repair guy told me just to install a wireless mouse and use a generic remote. I still like the feel of the original though.

So I've managed a quick fix for now. I got a Xceed LG remote from Checkers. It works out the box with the TV BUT there's no scroll wheel like a lousy Samsung remote. So anyways, I got a cheapo wireless mouse from Cash Crusaders and it does the mousing I need it to do for now.

I will still get the original but it's nice to know there's other options if you're also in a jam.


BTW, Samsung TV's are also compatible with a wireless mouse.
