I have a relatively old LG TV
It has the ability to connect to the internet with an Ethernet cable
Does not have WiFi so I was thinking - would putting an old router - plug in the cables Would this work ? What settings would I change on the router

Short answer maybe but not likely
The router would need to have wireless client/bridge support

if you are trying to make the TV have a wifi connection, then the only way I can think you could do it is to get a wifi repeater which has a ethernet port, then setup the access point to "link" to your existing wifi and then plug the tv in the ethernet port.

Just use a standalone media player like an apple tv , roku , chromecast, mibox or an xbox if you have any of those they do a much better job.

That is excellent but it means while my kids are watching Disney plus I am screwed I had thought of that but means mucho dinero I think that the WiFi router idea will work
