Licence Disk Expired - Who's Responsible

So ... if you use a vehicle (that's not yours) knowing that the displayed licence disk has expired and you get a fine, who is responsible for the fine? Is it the driver, or is the the owner for not putting in the new licence disk?

Licence disk was renewed but not displayed / available in the car at the time.

The driver is responsible , it is his responsibility to check things like expired licence before he drives the car.
BTW i think there is a lesser fine for not displaying the disk if it has been paid for and not displayed.

You must pay the fine, as said it's the driver's responsibility!
 
Well, checking the licence disk for validity is part of the K53 pre-trip inspection! So, yes, it is the drivers responsibility to pay the fine if he drove without a valid licence disk.
 
Driver is responsible.

As the vehicle was licensed it will be the alternate charge of Failing to display that stands.
 
the driver is responsible for any fines incurred while driving the vehicle, if the owner can prove you were driving the car at the time of offence then he can get the fines redirected into your name if he/she wishes to.
 
is the owner of the vehicle aware of the disc being expired? could be gross negiligence if he wasn't aware. was this a company vehcile? to many questions, to little information to make a full and factual response.

Unless, you are caught speeding via cameras. Then it is on the owner of the vehicle. Go figure, make the laws such that it has the highest profit.

That is only because they can trace the owner not the driver. You can still go to court and say but Mr X drove it so he is responsible. If you have Eye witness and facts backing it up the fine does get transferred to the driver.
 
What if it is a company car, but a different person driving it almost every day?

I can tell you this from experience. The driver gets the fine!

(Was my first and only traffic fine)
 
I don't know, if my licence disk is expired and someone is fined using my car, I wouldn't expect him to pay it. It's my responsibility to ensure my disk is up to date.

The onus is then on the company proxy to nominate who was the driver in question on the day.

@Creeper. Not sure what you are talking about but hand written fines are issued on the spot to the driver. Camera fines are issued to the owner because there is no way to determine who the driver was at the time. Onus is then on the owner to produce the driver's details, in which case the fine is re-directed, or pay the fine himself.

I would'nt either I would feel too bad to make someone else pay for my laziness.
