LIFEPO4 Battery discussion thread

Got the charger this morning. I'm letting the battery charge. Once I hit cutoff I will manually top balance it and then just leave it to do its thing.
Cut off is 54V isnt it? How are you going to manually top balance? dc-dc 15 cells to catch up with cell 8 or discharge cell 8 with the lightbulb?

Once you reach 58.4V then you dont need to leave it to do anything as its top balanced.

No I'm doing battery 4 the CFE one first with the prismatic cells. Then I will do battery 3 with the cylinder cells after because I want it to sit at that voltage for a while balancing. I did adjust the balancing parameters of the pacebms for that one so once its done I will do battery 2 the newest one of all.

Once I'm done with them their respective BMS would need to do the balancing.

What voltage are you starting on bat 4?

I should buy this and build my own batteries

It balances automatically when at 99% but takes a long time, days or weeks so I wouldn't worry, it should sort itself out in summer.
This is all I can see, I assume the longer silt stays at 100% the better for balancing. Anyway I can tell when it is balanced?

Charge voltage 54V? What battery do you have? Pylontech?

Anyway, most BMS' start balancing above 3.45V cell voltage. I assume your battery has 15 cells (15x3.2=48V nominal) which would explain the 54V and only pylontech has that so you cant parallel other batteries which are 16S (16x3.2=51.2V nominal).

But you cant actually see anything it seems, when did the jump in the graph start? Can you show a graph from Feb when it gets to 100?

1 Feb I see it went from 96-98, 98-1001780315191259.png

And if it's a pacebms the passive balancer only kicks in if one cell has hit 3.5v. That is the default settings.

Looks to be a SH Energy top right
