Lightning Damage and Damage reports for insurance

I do these reports, mostly for free...
As others on this forum can attest, I can be trusted with this.
The general thing is, if you are an expert in your field doing the report, the insurer is less likely to give the client the run-around and are likely to pay-up. I have written reports for many, in all cases the insurance paid out like they should, and trust me, the equipment I evaluated was good and solidly destroyed and beyond economical repair. I am seldom able to repair lightning damage, sometimes one gets lucky but often, the other components fail shortly after the successful repair, leading to a comeback.
Most repair shops are run by idiots more interested in charging you just to look at the item, and the opportunity to pilfer parts out of your equipment..

Im not trying to cheat anybody, the hard drive is properly screwed now, it just disappears in MiniXP (Hirens Boot CD)
It also gets rather hot compared to my other drive.
You can claim only if your insurance cover unintended abuse, not just accidental or lightning damage. As you post a question in a "lightning damage" thread - and we know, it is not in your case - you are planning to cheat on them.
Ok I forgot to mention that this hard drive was part of a replacement computer that was struck by lightning, so it should still be under warranty.
