So the lightning fried all my electrical equipment last Saturday, luckily I have insurance.

They have asked me to get all of it repaired now, on my time. Can't find a decent place that can repair all my units.

It's a tv, hifi, pc's, router, cordless telephones, ect...

Anyone know of a good repair center in JHB?

I know of a place in Pretoria, but no Jozie, sorry.

**** repairing that ****, tell the insurance its irrepairable and that you that want new stuff

Ja, repair what is only easily repairable. But in most cases repairing will be more than replacing.

Get quotes on replacing the rest.

If you take your stuff to a decent computer/electronics place, they will usually state that repairing is both stupid and expensive. They give this on a letter head and provide motivation for just purchasing new stuff....

I hate repairing stuff, it normally comes back worst. Last time the remote was gone, chips out of the TV ect.

I've been phoning around all day, no one repairs cordless phones, the one guy laughed at me when I told him it was hit by lightning.

Any tips on how to work with the insurance on this one, tel numbers of place that can help out will be awesome!

P.S. I'm not looking at ripping off the insurance, but damn, I'm busy too you know!! And repairing a router and phone it by lightning!? Come on!

They still want me to repair the cordless telephones, any idea where anyone can help me out?

They are probably fried beyond recognition, the mysterious blue smoke has escaped. Don't know how you'll be repairing that crap

It usually has to be a chain group like Matrix, Incredible Connection, Fotocats etc.

We lost two PC's, a 4 in 1 laser fax, a switch, modem and usb hub with Saturday's (17th) lightning and after I got a quote from Matrix we replaced it and will send the insurance company the slips. Unfortunately Matrix wanted to replace our stuff with their crap but we don't have time to run from one store to another so we'll take a slight knock :(

As for fixing stuff that can't be fixed, they'll give you a report that it's beyond repair.
