I'm open to any suggestions for a good alternative to Adobe Lightroom. I'm not a fan of the subscription model and you can no longer buy it outright.

Up until now I've been using Aperture but since I've been forced to upgrade my laptop that's no longer an option.

What specifically do you use in Lightroom that you're not getting from Photoshop (I'm assuming you've got Photoshop)? If you don't have Photoshop I'd suggest Affinity Photo which is a really affordable and really good Photoshop alternative that costs under R1000 once-off.

Lightroom always felt like slightly unnecessary software if you already have an image editor to do all your adjustments with.

I also have to move away from my old version of Photoshop so I've got Affinity Photo. Dealing with a lot of raw images in AP is a real pain. I need to be able to do bulk edits.

And I don't currently use lightroom.

That's more of a photo editor.

Apps like Lightroom and Aperture are as much about organisation as they are about editing.

Say for example I wanted to tweak the white balance of 1000 raw images - I could do that en massse in Lightroom but I would have to do them individually in Photoshop.

Actually remember now, he stuck with Adobe because of a Black Friday deal.
Just adding that since it’s almost time again.

I am in the exact same boat as you are, and no, no real Lightroom substitute. ON1 does have plugins to accommodate.

Sometimes trial versions magically don't expire...

For everything else I use Capture One. Brilliant piece of kit that can actually process Fujifilm photos properly.

Funny enough I'm installing Darktable - or trying to. Next stop will probably be One 1.
Ok - Darktable is pretty ugly. Trying On1 next.

EDIT: perhaps not at this time.
