LightScribe DVD's

Firstly, does anyone know where I can buy bulk Lightscrive DVD's (50's spindle etc). At the moment the cheapest price that I can find is 50 HP for R254 (ex delivery) from zaps (http://www.zaps.co.za/?pid=12374)

Secondly, would you recommend a printer to print colour directly to printable surfaces rather - cheaper??

Lastly, if so, which printer would you recommend (in the R1k to R2k range)

uhm.. I'm gonna assume the printer & lightscribe discs are a seperate issue?
I'd say thats a pretty decent price you got there, I paid R100 for 10 Lightscribe CD's...

If possible, try to get Lightscribe 1.2 discs - these give you much better contrast

I have a Cannon IP5200 and its alright to print CD s / DVDs . It costs R500 for a colour pack (or more) and R200 for a standard black cartridge. Rather expensive.

At the price you can get the Lightscribe media for, I would rather go that route. Else a R10 marker from PnP does the job for me.

That is not a bad price for the lightscribe discs. A comparison I ran a while back placed the lightscribe discs above the printed's in terms of price (long run) and the overall look was also suitable for my purposes.

With the cost of inkjet ink I would be weary of any printer based solution

I also have the Canon iP5200 and found that if you do the refills yourself you save yourself a lot of money.
I will go this route if I were you - color is so much better than lightscribe and the printable DVDs are cheaper.

Get a Colour Laser Printer http://www.sybaritic.co.za/store/index.php?cPath=89_99 either the HP or Samsung they are just below 2k
And print Labels, http://www.makro.co.za/ProductDetail.aspx?cat=-1&prod=2550&SKU=000000000001397500|PK Tower Labels There are 50 labels in that pack although you can buy in bigger quantities if you want to...

haven't had a days worth of trouble with that, i have the Canon MP500 and when it prints pictures on a CD i give it one touch and it smudges all over the place...
