Hi

I would like to know if i would be able to get ADSL 10mb

Line Stats
Downstream Upstream
SNR Margin
39.0 22.0 db
Line Attenuation
36.5 22.5 db
According to the Telkom technician im about 2Km from the DSLAM

I have the exact same attenuation as you do Louis72.

You will definitely be able to sync at 8mb with 100% stability using G.DMT modulation.

You can also sync at 10mb, but the stability isn't 100%. I'm not saying you will lose sync every 10 minutes. I've been able to stay synced for 8 hours at a time. Then it just drops and comes back on. It syncs, but doesn't stay synced permanently.

It as if you were just 50 meters closer to the exchange, you'll be able to stably sync at 10mb.

AT what speed was the above stats taken, because higher speeds will change those SNR readings drastically.
And 2 , is your exchange IMAX enabled, cos higher than 4 meg is only available to IMAX/Metroethernet backhaul supported exchanges.

Multimode allows the upstream sync at 1024k compared to GDMT 512k.

Dosti
I am currently on a 384k line
Secondly my exchange only supports up to 4MB but if they are going to upgrade the exchange i will definitely get 10MB.

im located in Hartbeespoort on the Xanadu exchange.

@Louis to be brutally honest there is no way to know if you line will support the 10 megs except to get upgraded and see and what happens

that being said
from the stats you posted I would take a stab at it and say yes it will support the 10 megs but ... who knows it just might not

Yup, you'll get 10Mbps no problem if your exchange supports it! Your noise margin is super high which is great, but your attenuation is 37~ which will limit you to about 12-14Mbps, but that's beyond 10Mbps concerns anyway :)
Edit: I see you're on 384k, not 4Mbps - I was wondering how it's possible to have such a high noise margin on 4Mbps at that distance :) Still 10Mbps shouldn't be a problem. I've got 38dB attenuation (a bit worse than yours), and a noise margin of 8-10dB at 10Mbps, and I have a stable 10Mbps sync. Give it a try if you can

btw fragtion what type of adsl modem are you using, I have a billion 5102g.

Since this thread is open and I don't wanna create a new one, will I be able to support 10mbps with these stats:

SNR Margin(Upstream) 36.5 dB
SNR Margin(Downstream) 41.15 dB
Line Attenuation(Upstream) 11.0 dB
Line Attenuation(Downstream) 27.0 dB

Disagree, I get 8128 Kbps down and 1024 Kbps up on G.DMT. On multi-mode I get 10023 Kbps down and 1008 Kbps up.

Using this here router
