Hey,
Is telkom still upgrading the lines?
I'm currently on 4MB, I did the telkom speed checker, and these are the results:
Max speed supported by your exchange: 10240

Does this mean that I should be upgraded? Should I be phoning them?

Could you perhaps log in on your ADSL modem's webpage and post your ADSL stats here? The ones we're interested in are: SNR margins, line attenuation and sync speeds - both for the upstream & downstream.

With those values, we can estimate the highest speed that your ADSL can run at without running into stability problems.

I'm using the old Telkom Marconi 4 Port Router Broadband, I don't even know how to log into it.
My new question is, can this router handle the 8 or 10mb lines? Apparantly it doesn't support ADSL2+

Try going to http://10.0.0.2, with the username & password being admin, or admin & password as the username and password combination.
If it doesn't have ADSL2+ support, then it should be able to support up to 8Mbps ADSL (using G.Dmt modulation).
