All sites will work except ones that uses "Flash 10". e.g. www.youtube.com won't work.. They are planning to release updates for the linkbook in the near future to support this.
 
sounds nice, R960 ,this is what a netbook should cost, anywhere you can buy it without the vodacom rubbish?
 
So can you simply bolt-on the R40 per month onto your VOdacom Contract?? or do u need to apply for a whole seperate jobbie, or must you take the R199 as a 24month?? (along with 300mb of included data)

What about printing

As this device doesn't use an operating system which is capable of installing 3rd party software, where does that leave you with printing? :confused:

If you were wanting to use this to start up a new business, how would you produce a quote for a client?

Perhaps you would be required to take out a 2nd Vodacom contract that gives you a free pc with a printer. :wtf:

I'm pretty sure they are talking crap or referring to windows applications. If it's Linux you can install apps on it.
 
As for the "R40" device cost- bollocks!

My 3G through SAINET is R89 for 300MB- device effectively costs R110/m for a total of R2640 over 2yrs.

was on 5fm just now, neil watson or something was his name, cant buy the linkbook from vodacom for cash, you have to take the contract... but guys... its 9 inch, thats like sooo tiny. i have a asus eee pc, the 1000H, for surfing the net etc, but its so frustrating if it says, no your screen resolution is not big enough... aarrrgggghhhh

Why? It has 3G embedded in it, why why duplicate that?

Yes, you can plug in USB Flash Drive or USB Hard Drive. There are two USB ports.
Or just insert a 64GB SD card into the card-reader slot?

I was offered one at R2300 cash at a local Vodastore, though they have no stock and quoted a two week lead time.
You cannot get just the Linkbook without the data package at R40/month, its either R2300 cash, or R199/m including 300MB

Spoke to the tech support guys... you can NOT install extra software, but they will offer "upgrades" from time to time. Interesting that the upgrade features doe not work at all, as per the above review. And battery life of only 90 minutes in standard config? Hell, No Thank You!!!!

Screen res is 1024x600, a bit unusual. They say 16:9 aspect ratio, but that would be 1024x576

At R2300 I would rather get an Atom powered Netwook with 1GB RAM and 160GB HDD, and... well, you get the idea.
 
This is exactly what I want to put in my car... where do I get it without Vodacom?
