LinkedIn account and laptop possibly hacked

Any advise please. So i was signed out of linked this morning all of a sudden. Running MS Defender scans keeps coming up with trojan's and Backdoor:MSIL/Quasar!atmn and Trojan:Win32/Suweezy and I think this is related to my LinkedIn account being hacked and when I perform the Forgot Password function then I get a code but with Chinese writing. I then get asked to upload a copy of my Identity document to verify my identity.

Thats not linkedin .LinkedIn won't ask for your ID. An exectuable ran on your PC installing all crap and trojans. You need to reset your PC and change your passwords from your phone.

that is if he has lost all access to the LinkedIn account and someone changed the language ,email and telno to theirs.

Account recovery is separate process to forgotten password.

This is the thing that frustrates me so much in an online world where your experiences and progress is logged and maintained by 1 or 2 companies and there is no way for you to backup and restore your account like with a website. Sure you can archive your data, but like this case where everything has been removed, how do you go about restoring it?

Same problem with Fakebook.

You would think there is an option where you can make weekly backups and then restore to a previous backup.

The only thing they push is 2FA and Passwords. It has been proven that is not a secure enough way to protect your years of data and restoring it.

Backups can and should be done offline. It won't affect their storage. It's because they want to be in control of your data. A breached account is not a problem for them as long as they make money.

Unfortunately it is a problem when you get a virus like this. I would change passwords, get two factor authentication on accounts that allow it and perhaps go the bank and get a new credit/debit card because if your cards where saved on a website chances are they might try something.

Also I highly recommend getting a good antivirus. Yes it is 2023 and despite everyone saying they never saw a virus in their adult life on their own personal computers doesn't mean computer viruses don't exist. They do, they are dangerous and very hard to get rid of them.

My personal advice to you is, install a VM. Create an install. Clone it. Use the clone and delete it, clone it again from the original install and repeat the process. This will reduce the risk of infection. This is my opinion only. I am no expert.

Another thing. Only way to do a clean install is get a Linux thumb drive boot with it, zero your hard drive and do a clean install of your OS of choice. Reinstalling Windows by just plugging in a thumb drive and running the installer may allow the virus to copy itself onto the thumb drive and by the time your reinstall is done the virus is back.

I really wish this would happen to me, I would upload a reverse shell onto their pc, get persistence and f with them for weeks before killing the system.
