How on earth do you do it? I got a refund via PayPal, but now I need to get it into actual currency so I can use it again.

When I go to the FNB link on PayPal, it goes to this link: https://www.fnb.co.za/travel-products/paypal.html

In the instructions, it links a page with URL www.GotPaid.co.za, which refers me back to the above link.

It also mentions that when I've logged into FNB online banking, under the Accounts tab I'll find a space to register for Paypal. The closest I find to that tab is My Accounts, and there is no mention about PayPal.

Please help.

Thanks.

Select one of your accounts then click on the side menu. There will be a link to Paypal Services on the far right once the menu is open. You can link your account from there.

Thanks. I've already done step 1 and 2. But Step 3 - Link your Paypal Profile is where I'm stuck:
Link your PayPal profile
Once your PayPal account has been verified you link your profile by clicking Link PayPal Profile.
To link PayPal account: Select My Bank Account, then Menu. Next, select PayPal services, then Menu and then Link your PayPal Profile.
During this linking process you will be asked to confirm the contact information we have for you. This information will be used when reporting each transaction to the South African Reserve Bank.
You will need to enter your Primary PayPal email address. This is the email address you use to login to access your PayPal account.
You will be asked to accept the terms and conditions for this FNB PayPal service.
During the linking process you will be redirected to PayPal in order to log onto your PayPal account. To do so you will need your primary PayPal email address and your PayPal password.
Please Note
Please ensure that pop-up blockers are disabled before you attempt to link your profile.
Once linked you will be able to perform both Top up and Withdraw transactions.
Although most transactional accounts can be used for Top Up and Withdraw transactions, some may not be available based on Exchange Control requirements.

There is no link saying Link PayPal Profile anywhere - and no, the above text is not a link.

There's no option to withdraw under the PayPal services menu?

Trying this option - then it gives me only a US bank option, and no credit card option. See below:

once struggled to find paypal on fnb, gave up and used bitcoin, mush simpler with bitx

links straight

The money I got refunded was paid back directly into the Paypal account I used originally.

This really shouldn't be so complicated. There must be an option - even received a Paypal mail this week advertising this.

I meant trying to withdraw via the FNB Paypal Services section. It will open a new tab and go from there.

Trying to withdraw via fnb is a nightmare, they ask you for some random code that explains the nature of the money, I just gave up

Interesting, withdraw from PayPal to a bit coin account? Probably less fees?
How do you get the rands out of the bit coin account in Sa?

much much simpler;

register on bitX, give your details, get an bitx/bitcoin address, and
then go via paypay and transfer to bitcoin, then once its in bitcoin, convert to rands and cash out at FNB,

so Much simpler and so much less costly especially for foreign transactions

wonder why nobody suggested it earlier?

Is bitx local? What fees do they charge, aren't you going to lose even more with an extra step in the process?

That's for tax purposes and to be fair they do explain what the codes are.

I've withdrawn quite a few times without issue in the past months.

This is all I get when I open the Paypal Services menu. Keep in mind I already have the FNB card linked to Paypal via the Paypal steps.

It's the Balance of Payment codes. What amazes me though, is that they're so limited. They don't have codes for Software buying/selling, and even things like web design (although potentially it could fall under selling of "intellectual property", but it's murky). If what you're doing doesn't exactly fall into one of those categories (and most things done over the internet don't), then technically you're not allowed to use the FNB withdrawal service as it would constitute a breach of the Exchange Control laws.

And government wonder why there's such slow economic growth in SA, when they're doing their best to curb any new enterprises with archaic laws like Exchange Control.

How did you move the money from Paypal to Bitx? I have a BitX account, but don't see an option to buy Bitcoins with Paypal?

:erm: Thanks. I swear I checked everywhere, somehow I missed that. At last!
I've been caught by FNB hiding options in that Menu pop out, it's not clear that stuff pertinent to the page you are on are there.
