Linksys wrt34g3g router Info

Has anyone tested the Mtn 3g data card with this router , Does it work without any issues or have vodacom blocked the router like they have their 3g data cards ?

I know that the MTN Data Card has worked with it before but I'm not sure if they've blocked that as well

Thanx for the response but i need to know if the new data card from mtn will work for sure before i actually go out and buy one . Dont wanna get stuck with a card cannot connect via the router. Reason being is that vodacom has blocked of incoming connections to their apn . And cannot give me an answer as to when they will open it up . Mtn seems the way to go.

I think the Vodacom forum could maybe give you an answer but in terms of us I can assure you we do not and will never lock any of our devices.....

Well i went out and got my mtn data card and guess what it does not work to well with the linksys router , DV said that he had a Merlin U640 Data card but Mtn said that they only had the huawei E620 data card which is exactly the same as vodacom, works hundreds with a vodacom sim but just dont wanna work with mtn sim , Maybe im doing something wrong ,Any info would grately be appreciated . And why with mtn do you have to get a sim card and a 3g sim card ??? were as with vodacom your 32k sim does it all .

Good day,

Not sure why you MTN sim isn't working with the linksys router, 8K, 16K and 32K is surfichant to run 3G fine the only reason for a 3G sim is you can Roam with it and it's provisioned to work with Videomail other than that there is no need for a 3G sim if you not going to use it to ROAM

I'll check with my handset manager and advise on the router

Thanks MTNDD , The person at the counter said that the 32k sim would only give me gprs speeds ,thats why i had to get the 3g sim card but they did not have stock of the 3g sim ,so just got a normal starter pack .Thanks for confirming that for me , Would Vodacom in their latest firmware update block the router from being able to use any other network ?

The person was talking bull - Please could you supply the name of the dealer and the person's name if you can remember?

Well I know that VC have apparently started blocking there Data cards I'm not sure about there Routers, could you maybe confirm with VC?

wrt54g3g Help Please

HI Guys,

I also have a WRT54g3g with a e620 card and MTN 3g Sim, I have tried everything I even downloaded the altest firmware from a German Site.
The Router Works Great with a Vodacom Sim and the MTN e620 card.
BUT please is there anyway I can get the MTN sim to work with this Router?

Please forward APN settings which I can try.

Cheaper Solution for using HSDPA card on Apple PC

Howzit.. Anybody got any ideas how I can use this card on my normal Desktop MAC? I don't feel like buying another R2000 device to use it as WiFi..

We have just purchased a WRT54g3g router and an E620 card. We have tried everything to get the system working with the MTN card but so far no joy. The router does not even recognize the E620 card with the MTN sim in it. Oddly enough the E620 works in our laptop with the MTN Sim which seems to indicate that the problem is with the router. Any help would be appreciated.

When you use you're VC SIM does it work?
