Linksys WRT54G3G router and datacard E620

Oh, and updating the firmware is absolutely smooth, no problem. I didn't even remove the card. It did take the router down while it was busy. Fair enough, I suppose.

I can also report that after the upgrade I was able to use my Vodacom and my MTN cards and SIMs, no problem (other than they have to be set up, of course. It is a little expensive,but I guess you get a router, a hub, a wireless network and a hardware firewall all in one box.

Now I must figure how to track usage.

Do you know if they lock these WRT54G3G routers? If I buy a Vodafone labelled one in the UK will it work with Vodacom here? Or MTN?

The ones sold locally are Vodafone branded. In addition the firmware is the same for all the UMTS versions, so it should work.
