Linksys WRT54G3G router and datacard E620

Still can't get the firmware loaded, tried on a different computer, with no luck.
Any ideas anyone?

make sure u've downloaded the .bin (there is a .exe) link also, im not sure what the exe does (possible self extract file) , but i downloaded the .bin and upgraded using that..

Can't get it to load, gets as far as the progress meter 0% then just sits there, left it through the night, same place in the morning, I will try to load from a different pc this morning.

Stupid question, how did you upgrade using the .bin, I thought the .exe contains the .bin and an installation prog?
The .bin is 3.1Mb the .exe is 3.5Mb

Router firmware not updating?

While I have 3 Linksys routers [1 * ADSL2 and 2 * WRT54GL], and some experience with updating Linksys router firmwares, I unfortunately don't have a WRT54G3G router, were there any specific destructions from Linksys when you downloaded the firmware update? - I imagine you have to remove the data card from the router before doing the router's own firmware update, make sure the update isn't interrupted [e.g. powered by UPS], etc.

BFK, I'm wracking my brains here trying to remember. This happened to me too, and there was something quite simple that I had to sort out before it was able to update properly....but I can't remember what that was.

I have double checked on Linksys site and found no help, I have tried with the data card in and out (switching off before removing or inserting data card)
Power is stable, last night I left it running it got to 0% and stayed there, and was at the same place in the morning, so, at a big brick wall right now.

1. Download the latest .bin file (currently v.2.01.02)
2. Goto Administration > Firmware upgrade in the router setup.
3. Click Browse, and select the file you just downloaded.
4. Click the Upgrade button, and wait a few minutes for it to load the new firmware. Your router will reboot, and when the power LED stops flashing, then it should be ready to go.

NOTES

1. Make sure u are connected to the router via cable and NOT wirelessly.
2. Unplug the data card after downloading the .bin file, and before you begin the upgrage.

lol, yeah, I learnt the hard way with my WRT54G.
The reason, if anyone is wondering, is because wireless signal gets lost when new firmware is being loaded. So, basically the upgrade would be stuck half-way.

BFK, make sure you connect via one of the LAN ports. Got a feeling that's why your upgrade keeps bombing-out in the same place.

I tend to be lazy, so ignored 1 & 2 ... still upgraded fine (from 2.00.22)

My guess is either your image got corrupted during dl or you're trying to upgrade from 1.99.8 (which may not be as smooth?)

I suspect that Roman4604 is saying that you might need to load an intermediate firmware update [something inbetween 1.99.8 and 2.01.02] for the Linksys WRT54G3G router, and after that has succeeded, update to 2.01.02.

1. Download the latest .bin file (currently v.2.01.02)

That did it CodeMaster
I did it this way and worked perfectly first time and very quickly.
Note 2. every time I tried the upgrade I was connected via cable
ic: I did the upgrade to 2.01.02.
Ok! so I'm happy now :) :)
Thanks to CodeMaster, IC, Roman4604 and everyone that helped.

Yep that what I was eluding to. I would add all configs were retained perfectly 2.00.22 -> 2.01.02 (can't remember if this was the case 1.99.8 -> 2.00.22).

FYI the 2.01.02 image file I used is WRT54G3G_2.01.02_ETSI_code.bin 3265536 bytes. Maybe check if your image matches.

That is the exact one I used.
Thanks

These links doesn't seem to work anymore - does someone have a valid link?
Thanks in advance.
