Hi,
why when I have the datacard in my notebook and connect to 3G it takes about 2-3 seconds, but with the same card and same sim in the linksys wireless router the blue light flashes to connect and can take sometimes 15seconds to connect and never as fast as the datacard in the pc?

Manual APN settings set to "internet" on the router, and no PIN on the SIM.
The router has the latest firmware version 2.0.0.2

V3G - maybe one of the techies there by you knows of a setting that needs to be "set" ? Thanks.

3G only .. same on mobile connect app and on router, 3G only ... same happens with GPRS only too (GPRS connects 2secs datacard in laptop, 15seconds GPRS only in router)

i'm all for leaving my router connected, but what if there was traffic coming into my PC without my knowing? i dont like the thought of being billed for 100's of megs at OOB rate dur to data being sucked without my knowing.. what would happen from a billing pov in that scenario?

I have connection problems with this router and the E620 data card, it should auto connect, but I have to switch it off and on a few times before it will connect, the data card works fine when in the laptop, but for some reason it won't connect when in the router, the blue lights flash indicating that it is in the process of connecting.
Any ideas?

Have you upgraded the firmware? I think E620 support only came in the last or second last version.

You can find the firmware on the Huawei site. I don't think it's been 'approved' by Vodacom yet, but that's never stopped you guys before...;)

Do you mean the firmware on the E620?

Thanks chiskop, should have been more clear on which firmware. Although I always update everything in any case.

do you have a link for the E620 firmware? Please can you also confirm what firmware version you're running on the router? Thanks.

Ok, will download the firmware for both and load tonight, I will post the results.
Thanks.
Can't fine the firmware for the E620, have looked on VC site but can't find. Can someone post a link to it.
Thanks.

You'll have to look on the linksys site. This post [http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showpost...&postcount=257] has a link to what you're look for, I think.

I got my router about a month ago, had to do a little bit of fiddling to update the firmware to work with the Huawei (despite the fact that the Hauwei card is specifically mentioned on the box as compatible), but since then it has worked brilliantly.

BFK, the I remember having to browse round the linksys site for some time before finding the firmware update. PM me if you can't find it. I'll have it at home.

I didn't touch the firmware on the datacard. The router's firmware is all you need to get up and running.

Can't get it to load, gets as far as the progress meter 0% then just sits there, left it through the night, same place in the morning, I will try to load from a different pc this morning.
