Linux from Africa

Won't you then call them ReactOS people? I also believe people that gives up their spare time to work on a project of their choice does not care what computers users love.

You're right. The point of linux developement is not to be a free binary compatible alternative to Windows.

If you want to use cars as an example. Some cars only drive on roads, other can go off road, and others are insanely capabile off road machines. Yet all of them can drive on tared roads. Linux is like not like cars or even the off roaders than can also drive on tared roads. No - Linux is like flying a kite - it is fun, there is many to chose from, but it is completely removed from the real word business of vechiles and where they can run.

I dunno I think it more like this:

Hardware and software vendors create the things on which vehicles travel (road, rail etc.) and because most people drive trains (Windows) the vendors only built railroad tracks. Leaving cars (Linux) with nothing to travel on because there isn't a large enough ROI to justify building roads. So the people who drive the cars built their own roads. Sometimes these roads are better, sometimes they aren't. Either way we all get to our destination in the end so why fight about it.

That's the great thing about open source, anyone can build a distro and make their own apps for it. If a company like Adobe got a clue they could build their own Linux Distro and bundle it with native versions of their products.

That way somebody who just needs to do web development or graphics design just needs the Linux bundle(paying only for the proprietary apps) with no need to purchase an OS as well to run just the apps they paid so much for. All the user needs is to guarantee that their PC has fully compatible hardware.

And that = FAIL.

That would be true if trains could take you everywhere but cars would only take you to specific places and you would have to [-]install a distro[/-] buy a car depending on what your destination will be.

Define everywhere....

In the 3 short years that I've been using Linux, I've learnt a hell of a lot more than everything combined throughout my "Windows 3.1 - XP" years.

Side note:
Adobe Photoshop CS4 11 - 1 User = R 10472.95
Adobe CS4 Design Premium 4 - 1 User = R 26926.95
Adobe CS4 Master Collection 4 - 1 User = R 37398.95

Believe me, I'll bend over backwards to find and use alternatives.

They can only justify using Windows when they use cracked versions of software. How ironic. :p

Intel is working on moblin so clearly there is money to be made. They'll be selling hardware without the costs of expensive software.

Linux is not communism.. Watch Revolution OS -.-

Moblin is free and intel can sell it. Just like all the AMD technography they get hard on and then sell of as thier own after prefixing an i to it. Like [-]EMT64[/-] iAMD. On the other hand, by maklik moblin they (intel) come accross and more friendly towards freetards.

there is a difference between free software and open source software..

lol they wont be selling Moblin :D

It will be bundled to make their hardware work without the need of a company releasing a bloated OS for it which you have no choice but to pay for or you'll be left with just hardware.

Just how small is your brain? Excluding desktop platforms business has far more *nix than windows. So try working your little brain before moving those fingers on your keyboard.
