Hey Nicojvr,

You are running a Novatel card and not the Option card - You don't need to compile nozomi. Just check the first post which will show the modprobe command and use that :)

Laterz !

Thanx Tazz,

but i still can't find out what to replace the /dev/noz0 [wvdial.conf/hsdpa] with as this Novatel card attaches as a usb device under /dev/bus/usb/006/006 and when i use that i get : innapropriate ioctl for this device..

Does it attach as ttyS? even thoug it's a usb device ? will modprobe create something that i can put into the HSDPA section of wvdial.conf?

Thanks alot for your help Obe-Wan

oopppsss - try /dev/tty/USB0 - same as the "old" option card :)

OR

/dev/ttyUSB0

i get it modprobe creates the tty/USB device ?

yeap, nothing of the sort..

my laptop is at home so i can't do anything from here..

let me try the fix first then i'll post again tonight :)

Try this:

Code:
mknod /dev/ttyUSB0 c 188 0

That will create the first device - create 1 and 2 as well replacing 0 with 1 then 2 :)

apologies again for the n00bin3ss of the questions...

I was bored

kinda off-topic but I was bored.
Installed VMWare Server Beta and installed XP as a guest.
Attached the guest XP to the USB device (Merlin U740)
Installed the Voda Dash
Am now achieving greater than 3G Speeds in the Guest XP. :)

Still no luck in achieving HSDPA speeds from my Linux installation. :(

Which HSDPA Card for Linux?

Could someone enlighten me as to which of the HSDPA cards are better? I will be using it under Linux. Currently I use an Option Quad Lite (was told that it was one of the better cards for reception quality) and cannot afford to spend excessive time wrestling with a new card in order to get it working.

# Option HSDPA Card
# Novatel HSDPA Card

Which one and why?

Thanks!

I just had the fortune of having a HUAWEI card here and it has been the easiest card to get going under Linux. I would suggest that you either go for the option - they have open source drivers - or the HUAWEI card. I still havn't been able to land the Novatel in stone so I am not sure what goes where with it :)
