Quick post to rave about the release of RC1 for Linux Mint 14. I'm running the 64bit version of the Cinnamon release, very impressed so far. Mint 13 felt very mediocre to me, probably because Cinnamon needed some polish. Looks like they made a marked improvement with Cinnamon 1.6. Anyone else using the RC?

I have to confess, I installed Linux Mint 13 on my desktop PC the week-end to "quickly" do some work after my Arch install tanked. It lasted two hours on my PC before I reinstalled Arch...

What really got me down was that everyhting is so old, old software, Gimp 2,6, Firefox 14, old game releases, Playonlinux 10 releases outdated, and to name only a few. It just did not sit well with me.

Don't get me wrong, I think it is great for an everyday office PC and my wife and daughters love it.
What I love of the Mint defs is that they LISTERN to their users. When they swithced to Gnome 3 and we raised a stink about it, they did something about it. Canonical got too prideful, bloated heads and the community is never a good mix.

WIll download the RC when I have a chance to see what they have accomplished.

Some basic screenshots. Running multi monitor, hence the black bit.

Will Cinnamon 1.6 be available us an update on Mint 13?

Any local mirror for Mint 14 RC?

Gave up trying to download from linuxmint.com yesterday, the site runs like molasses and the only torrent I could find was badly seeded.
